Anyone know what microcontroller this keyboard uses when trying to flash using qmk toolbox? Also is anyone else having issues with the hotswap sockets coming out without excessive force being used? I've had to solder 3 of them already.

asjurI’m still waiting on mine, please tell me these aren’t going to be super cheaply made, if KBD fans can make decent cheap PCB’s I’m keeping my hopes up 😓😭

asjurSeveral people have had issues. It’s a really nice PCB, though. Just some weak solder joints. I had one come off in shipping (that illustrates the problem perfectly). I resoldered it and the board is perfect in every way.

erikv801It is as the guy above says. The solder joints are super weak but easy to repair with a tiny bit of solder. Mine has other issue than this, only thing I noticed is FN + Escape didn't work when I was trying to flash this board. Instead it was Space + B to put it into boot mode.

asjuratmega32u4 (You can take a look on PCB, you will see a detail) I just flashed qmk firmware into my board yesterday. Yep, I had a same issue with socket came off. I resoldered all sockets on the board, just want to make sure they are secured enough.

asjurYep, FN +ESC didn't work. I just pressed a reset button instead (underneath an A key).

asjurthats sort of annoying especially seeing that KBD fans makes cheapish mech products and I’ve never had issues with the hot swap sockets so it’s kind of disappointing BUT if that’s the only real issue I have some good quality solder so I’ll just go over the solder points and add some as needed. Thanks guys, hope to get mine here soon

erikv801This is a major concern for me. I do not have access to soldering equipment or a safe place to use it (especially during this pandemic; maker spaces closed) so if mine has trouble I will not be able to effect repairs, even though I know how. Is this a big enough issue I need to contact drop about a cancellation?

Void2258Be extremely gentle when putting in switches, if you are then hopefully nothing comes loose although I could've sworn I was very gentle myself. It's a great keyboard but if it's a widespread issue I'd have some soldering equipment nearby.

asjurI am in a tiny NYC aprtment. I have neither the space nor the ventilation for soldering, and in any case such activity is expressly forbidden by lease terms (as both an air quality and fire hazard). Soldering is not an option for me.

doubleotwoAs far as I know there are two ways :
  • Press reset button (underneath an A key) while connecting USB cable --> I initially did this method.
  • Connect USB-C cable, then press Fn+ESC. It would activate boot mode. I have done this method more than twice, and can confirm it works.
