Great Kit!
This was my first dive into the custom keyboard world. My previous keyboard was a Ducky One 2 mini SF. I purchased this kit right around the first run and in the time between I decided I hated my wallet. I purchased a set of ice candy switches from since I prefer linear and wanted a clear switch to match the case/PC plate. I also purchased a set of the OSA Sleeves since they were on sale and I enjoyed the aesthetic. So I now have a set of holy pandas and some keycaps to build another keyboard. As far as the kit is concerned it was very well packaged and super easy to put together. I opted to not use all of the standoffs to hopefully get more flex from the gasket mount. As many know this gasket mount doesn't really provide much flex. Leaving off stand offs did little to improve this. However, I don't mind the lack of flex. Fully assembled the board looks great and I dig the rgb. Compatibility with VIA made key mapping and adjusting the rgb a breeze. Lastly, the included wrist rest is great and matches the board well. While this kit isn't the most budget oriented, if you like the aesthetic and are new to the space I can recommend the kit. You get everything you need to build your first custom.

KushaalAwesome to hear! I'm glad my efforts of putting together this kit has paid off and you've sincerely enjoyed it. Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing how it was packaged?

SpencerLThe kit was packaged great. The box from idobao was awesome and had some bits to set up a parts tray for assembly. The case, pcb, plate, and foam were very well housed inside of a quality foam enclosure. Definitely, a premium packaging experience.

Fabulous Board!
I really love this keyboard. It sounds great, and has a nice feel with the gaskets. I had a lot of fun with assembly and lubing the switches as well! Using VIA for the lighting is nice. I put the Iron Man Keycaps on it and they make it sound so nice! I also have the three pho Keycaps. Sorry for the scuffed photo! I was trying not to have my shadow cover the board lol

Great Keyboard, PE Foam Recommended
MAKE SURE FOR ASSEMBLY YOU HAVE A LONG SHANK, SKINNY PHILIPS-HEAD SCREWDRIVER FOR THE REAR CASE SCREWS LMAO As an entire kit, you're getting good value with a reasonably expansive, decent quality cap set (watch the 7U space tho), nice tactiles, and a nice, if not stiff, gasket mount keyboard. Even if you could get some flex out of it there's little room btwn the case floor and the back of the PCB anyway. I applied my own feet to the wrist rest, whether or not you're bothered by it not being level with the keyboard without them is up to you. Case underglow is nice, but mine, like every keyboard I have ever owned bc if it CAN be scuffed, my copy will be, has an issue where past 70% brightness I get a flickering LED that is irritatingly noticeable. Bringing it down to 70%-ish (VIA accuracy and all) resolved the issue, still looks great. For those wondering for clarification no, you don't get per-key RGB, only white for the top, RGB for underglow:

Optioned mine with PC plate, VERY plastic-y sound profile. The kit Holy Pandas will sound like glass marbles under these caps with some 3204 on the stems. Trash Panda housings will accentuate clacky tones. PE foam pads 110% recommended to tighten up sound without ruining transparent aesthetic (if you care). Only issue with stabs had to do with the spacebar wire: torqued in a way that can't really be straightened with what I have available, endless tick/rattle no matter how much lube (started getting stuck due to excess lube trying to eliminate the tick). Swapped to black PVD Durock wire, works fine now, easy and cheap fix. If you dig a clacky board and really like the transparent aesthetic, definitely consider this kit. For a more interesting board I do recommend getting both plates, that way you can play with applying a patina to the brass for an extremely eye-catching board, and still have the PC plate for different configs!

Your New Favorite Mechanical Keyboard
For reference, the configuration in this review is for the "Brass Plate" option. Having owned ~20 custom mechanical keyboards before purchasing this, ranging from budget $40 options all the way up to ~$700 builds, this has quickly become my absolute favorite keyboard in my entire collection. BUILD QUALITY
  • - Absolutely superb, on par with boutique ~$700+ options on the market.
  • - I opted for the Brass plate, so the weight is quite hefty which adds to the quality feel.
  • - Six months of heavy use and no visible wear/issues across the board, save for some minimal light surface scratches on the underside of the keyboard acrylic (likely due to my own user error as I frequently swap keyboards in/out of storage daily).

SWITCHES / STABILIZERS / TYPING FEEL
  • - The switches are absolutely sublime tactile switches, by far my favorite tactile switch on the market. Very clear actuation point, consistent feel and pressure across all keys of different sizes, including the spacebar which is usually a weak point in terms of quality feel. Even unlubed as the keyboard is out of the box, I found myself loving the feel so much I just never bothered with lubing the switches as I usually do.
  • - This is a gasket-mount keyboard, so for those unfamiliar this gives a cushioned feel to keypresses as it does a better job of insulating the plate from the case. For those new to the hobby, give the following search term a Google to better understand the differences between keyboard mounting styles to make sure this feel is what you're after, as Wordpress user Varmilo does a great job quickly explaining the differences: "Varmilo What is a gasket in a keyboard"
  • - Personally I have had no issues with the shipped stabilizers, YMMV however as I do see reports from others regarding the spacebar specifically. Have not experienced this personally after six months of heavy use.

TYPING SOUND
  • Preface: this is subjective, as everyone's hearing and preferences are different.
  • Volume
  • - On the louder side for a non-clicky tactile keyboard, but not overbearing. I use it primarily for home use, but I did take it to my office on multiple occasions and colleagues confirmed it was not audible/distracting for them.
  • Sound Profile
  • - On the "clacky" side out of the box (which isn't automatically a bad thing, mind you). If I could describe the typing sound in one swoop, I would say keystrokes have a weighty, determined, and consistent clack.
  • - If you're after the popular "thock" sound, you will need to explore foam pads and other mods along with considering the polycarbonate plate as opposed to the Brass which I review here.

KEYCAPS
  • - Was actually incredibly surprised here. Originally purchased the keyboard along with clear keysterine keycaps because I thought it would fit better aesthetically, but I instantly fell in love with the Artifact Bloom keycaps that it ships with out of the box. Very premium coating and has withstood extensive use over the last six months with 0 signs of any wear, fading, or staining.

VALUE
  • - At date of purchase (6/2023) and this review (12/2023), the price was/is $229 showing a discount from an original price of $385. At the discounted price, I have a hard time thinking of any other keyboard on the market that is such a good value/quality/feel package out-of-the-box. Honestly I don't feel there is one. If you were to build your own keyboard from scratch, you would likely be able to build a comparable product for a little cheaper but with a significant investment required in regard to your time and effort. This is an incredible option for those that don't want to mess with all of that and would rather buy something ready-to-go with minimal expertise or time required to tinker.

PROS
  • - Incredible build quality
  • - Sublime typing feel with outstanding consistency
  • - Great typing sound (subjective)
  • - My favorite tactile switch on the market, bar none
  • - QMK/VIA programmability works flawlessly
  • - Surprisingly premium-feeling keycaps
  • - Very upscale look, especially with other white peripherals
  • - Incredibly reliable: Six months later after heavy use, have not had a single issue/problem with the keyboard

CONS
  • - While heavy, if you use the keyboard on a desk pad / extended mouse pad then it is very prone to sliding due to how low-friction the acrylic of the case is. Very easy to solve, however, with $0.50 adhesive grips/feet you can find on Amazon.
  • - Per-key RGB is white ONLY. Only the case itself features RGB LEDs oriented on the bottom of the PCB only facing straight down (see picture for visual).
  • - While on the topic of RGB, the case does not do an outstanding job of diffusing the RGB lights. As you can see from my photo, you can see how localized the light from each LED on the underside of the case looks in action.

Other Notes for Potential Buyers
  • - This is a transparent case, so if you're new to that here's what it means: if you have pets, you WILL frequently be getting pet hair that irks its way under the keys and around the board. Personally, I have a fat, hairy corgi that loves spending time in the office with his dad so I find myself cleaning this keyboard VERY frequently, which includes removing keycaps and other components to get particularly annoying hairs out that find their way throughout the case.
  • - Not going to put this as a con for the keyboard since it comes with the territory with acrylic cases, but this case acrylic does seem to scratch fairly easily, so if you're rotating this frequently with other keyboards then take care when moving it, storing it, etc. Additionally, it's a fingerprint magnet.
Summing it up, I don't have any issue giving this keyboard a 5/5. It's been beautiful, pleasant, and reliable even as a daily beater keyboard for the last six months I've used it and it hasn't skipped a beat. Highly recommend to anyone in the market for a nice tactile, gasket-mount keyboard.

Missing items
Much like a lot of other people here, when my PCB arrived there were no keycaps or switches in the package. The customer support team offered to send out a replacement, which also arrived with no keycaps or switches.

Investment ❤️
Likes:
  1. ID80 Crystal Keyboard comes with Holy Pandas - which puts your typing at ease while minimizing the overly loud clacker in comparison to other Mechanical Keyboard that feels hollow to type with
  2. Keyboard Components are high quality and well put together - which explains why this keyboard is heavy af
  3. Easily programmable keys and customizable RGB lights using VIA
Overall, keyboard is very customizable to any degree you prefer

Dislikes:
  1. Putting the keyboard in Reset Mode to enable the programmable functions

I'd put "price" as a part of the dislike, but most of the time, anything expensive is usually worth the investment ❤️

Stabilizers are bad
Everything was great, but for a $350 keyboard, the stabilizers are god awful, they come pre lubed and everything, but they are just terrible no matter what mod you try (my stock GMMK’s stabs are better in every way) Gonna have to just put in seperate ones which is going to be a pain

I just received my parcel containing this keyboard today. To my surprise, inside the box was only the PCB, case, foam, and the brass plate (the screws, standoffs, and the cable were there). The keycaps, switches, and wrist wrest were nowhere to be found. The PCB also has a scratch on the back and many places where there is a shiny jell-like substance around where some of the LEDs where soldered on. Overall I give this product a 3/5. Feels quality, looks okay. Packaging was confusing and poor in quality. Included cable is made of rubber, not braided. If the things that were supposed to be here actually came with the keyboard, the rating would've been a 4/5 to 5/5. (wrote this review as of 7/26, did not receive any response from customer support) Edit 8/2/22: This is kind of a late update but Drop support did send over my replacement parts. The switches and keycaps are to be at my address by 8/4/22 and the wrist wrest was refunded to my account (USD 25) since they didn't have any in stock. Hopefully this time I receive what I am intended to receive. Last edit 8/4/22: Keyboard arrived today and I assembled everything. Things seem nice and worth the price, however I am going to need to get used to these switches. Sounds are amazing compared to my old Razer keyboard. Definetly would recommend to anyone like me, just getting into keyboards (if you want to deal with parcel problems).
