After owning the v1 and then selling it, I got the v2. The updated hardware made the dac more robust (allowing for local mqa, etc). I am definitely enjoying tidal and fps gaming using open cans. Though not well-versed with many similarly priced alternatives and having so-so hearing (airborne vet.), I do have love for a wide array of musical flavors and believe that ifi did well with this offering considering the price point. I've now used a zen can + zen dac v2 with senn. 58x, 6xx and 660s2 (current fav) and can't find much to complain about. Luckily, this purchase arrived weeks sooner than the projected ship date; thus abetting loyalty and the interest to keep Drop in the fold.
KeroseneboyHow is this relevant and/or the DACs fault? Also sounds like you thought this was a headphone amp, so maybe best to remove your review… just saying.
It sounds very good.
Both single ended and balanced out is nice.
Build quality is surprisingly good.
Input is USB only, but if that's all you need, a great DAC.
I was previously using Headroom Portable Micro DAC, but I wanted to hear something new, so I installed it.
The resolution of the overall sound has improved, just like its reputation for high quality.
I am using it with FYNE AUDIO F300 and I am satisfied with the results.
I feel that it is compact and excellent as a desktop audio system.
