Excellent amp!
Don't be turned off by the 6XX target of this amp's design and marketing. It works great with any headphones and it's a lot of fun trying out the different settings with different headphones to dial in the best sound.

please excuse my diy under table dac amp holder. And yes I put a white dot on the volume knobs. White caulk is what I used. Fill in the hole wipe with damp cloth to remove excess, let dry. My credentials to review this product are that I have been listening to noise for many years , loud noises , soft noises, even annoying noises. Mass drop does not pay me for these reviews nor do I get money from YouTube for getting you to watch a video. Nor do I try to elicit you to purchase all sorts of audio gear you really don’t need. I also don’t use words to describe sound that aren’t really comparable , so you won’t hear me say anything about resolving , soft , silky etc this product hits the list on everything the 789 is not. it does not modulate its noise floor like the 789 . So no thx to make it sound “untouched”. Not sure how you could filter sound and get reviewers to tell people to shell out tons of money. There was no noticeable floor unless the 6xx was over amped which is expected. it is truly balanced unlike others that made the claim this makes the 6xx sound better than the 789 makes the 6xx sound. this has two levels of filters to use a bass booster and 3D surround. both work great and even greater together. Having the ability to change your sound signature at the touch of a button is very nice. And it’s analogue eq. it’s small and is half the size of these other amps. Don’t let them fool you size does matter nice use of the 4.4mm which I believe is a godsend, xlr are old tech that are like 5 1/4 inch floppies. Plus they can make it smaller because they don’t need to accommodate that antiquated tech. this also when stacked with the zen dac give you sweet sweet mqa. I’ve listened to mqa and flac songs and sorry to say mqa is like an extra level of musical depth that it emulates. overall specifically for a 6xx headphone this stack hits all the right buttons. if you own the 6xx, and game and listen to music, this is a custom stack made specifically for it. With wiggle room for nicer cans , if you ever go that route. My 4xx and k7xx sit on a shelf cause the 6xx is the perfect middle ground i don’t know about most of you but I don’t go around dropping thousands of dollars on headphones. Give me best of breed at a good value point and I am a happy camper. the list good sound good options more features than other amps decent prices small size for a filthy casualphile like myself. It’s purrfect.

Great product with one issue

I purchased both the amp and dac and here are my first impressions. The amp and dac are connected via the 4.4mm balanced connection and both powered by the included iFi audio iPower X power supply. Connected to my laptop via USB 3.0. Setup: Software: Foobar2000, FLAC files Headphones: Sennheiser HD6XX, Drop Pandas, Sennheiser HD8DJ Earphones: Moondrop KXXS, Sennheiser IE80 Other DAC/Amp: Topping DX7 Speakers: JBL LSR30X Initially, I used a regular apple 3.5mm earpods to watch some Youtube videos and listen to a song on Foobar2000 and felt something was off. When using the dac on fixed output and the amp volume on low (below 8-9 o'clock position), only the right channel played sound (or very soft on the left channel comparatively to the right channel). Was really surprised by this and tested using the balanced output to my Moondrops and the result was more pronounced. Did some online searching and turns out its due to the usage of an analog volume control on the amp. There's an article by IFI (https://ifi-audio.com/faqs/volume-control-channel-imbalance-short-detailed/) on the hipdac and micro IDSD (https://ifi-audio.com/faqs/channel-imbalance/) with the same issue and inferred that it might be the reason. They recommend the volume knob to be at the 12 o'clock position. Subsequently, found other users experiencing this on the regular zen dac. To avoid this issue with sensitive headphones/earphones can be to put the dac on variable mode and use both the dac and amp volume controls to adjust the volume. Kind of annoying but that's one of the more obvious flaw. Another observation is that when using rca to 1/4" single ended to my speakers from the dac, at any volume, the speakers would produce quite audible static sound. When switching it back to my Topping DX7 (with the same cables), there was substantially less or close to inaudible. Additionally, there is only 1 option to connect from the dac to a device which is via USB. I did not notice much difference going from rca interconnects to 4.4mm interconnects between the devices. Besides that, when listening to music on my Sennheiser HD6XX (balanced) and both extra settings turned on, its just a surreal experience. Been listening to some 1980's jam from Queen, Madonna and Toto... etc. and its been a joy. There is a noticeable difference when switching between the modes. To a regular person, they wouldn't perceive much of a difference or maybe a small one. But to frequent music listeners with some entry level gears, the difference would be easily picked up. The sound becomes more fun and wider which can be more enjoyable at times and is a "new" experience. The bass is more pronounced slightly, this is very noticeable when listening to Queen - Another One Bites the Dust. The soundstage does increase and is more noticeable when listening to Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody. I think the main point of getting this amp would be the 2 extra settings and it does "enhance" the sound (depends on your liking). Using my Moondrops (balanced) with both extra settings on, the sound does change from without them enabled but not as drastically as on the HD6XX. However, the sound is still fun and enjoyable but is dependent on your musical preferences. Still have yet to setup DSD through Foobar2000 to the dac but have emailed IFI requesting for a pdf instructions (IFI does provide a pdf to enable DSD playback on Foobar2000 with supported IFI devices). Also, have yet to try them with my other equipment but looking forward to them. Both units do get warm to the touch when in use, would not recommend them running 24/7. Would highly recommend getting it with the dac unit or any other dac with variable volume control due to the issue mentioned prior. Overall, the close to $500 price tag (for both units/the combo) does make it kind of pricey but if you seek for a fun and well done enhancement to your music and great measurements without the extra settings, this is a pretty good option. Edit: After receiving the pdf from IFI to setup DSD on Foobar2000, I was able to playback DSD files no issue.

Hi, I think you can check this link out to get the pdf from ifi directly: https://ifi-audio.com/foobar-2000-asio-for-native-dsd-playback-instructions-pdf/ You just have to open a ticket to request for it and they will send it to you via email (relatively quick response). But, you would also need to download and install the driver for ifi devices before setting up dsd on foobar2000. https://ifi-audio.com/new-ifi-usb-audio-class-driver-v2-23-0/

Does what i bought it for
I was looking for a good replacement for my schiit stack (modi multibit and magni 2) and these are alot better. I'm currently running Sennheiser 6xx with a 4.4 balanced cable. It sounds great and the colourway is right up my alley too. The bass boost is quite addicting and i haven't turned it off since turning it on. Since i live in the UK i had to email IFI to get a compatible power adapter. They sent me the power adapter in one business day. Very good customer service.

DOA, Drop memory holes their return policy for defective items
Received yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately the 1/4" 6.3mm output is loose, out if the box. Introduces terrible static and the contact is too poor for increased gain. Non-functional. Still awaiting a response from Drop **Update** DOA, Drop has been evasive and totally unwilling to honor their stated policy for returns of defective third party devices within 30 days. They continue to instruct me to file a warranty claim with iFi, in which I ship at my own expense, and eventually they repair or replace. I didn't buy a refurbished amplifier. I bought a new amplifier. I didn't buy a non-functioning amplifier with a transferable warranty, I bought a new amplifier. Drop failed to meet their obligation of tbe transaction, and refuse to even respond to questions regarding their posted return policy. Thieves. **UPDATE 2*** Drop won't even respond to emails, let alone answer a simple question about their return policy. Pathetic. Do not spend one cent with these frauds.

VTMedicatedAre the decision-makers at Drop all out on Ayahuasca retreats, clearing out their emotional dumpsters?! 5 years ago I had a problem with a pair of HD58X headphones, and the fantastic service rep handled it quickly and beyond my expectations. Totally satisfied. But then just 6 months ago I had an issue with a recently purchased 3rd party gadget and found myself in Drop Communication Limbo (DCL!) for weeks with no decision or indication of progress. Finally, after nearly 2 months of nonsense, and since it wasn't an especially pricy item, I mailed the unit back to Drop and hoped against all odds that they'd do the right thing. Yeah, right. Still waiting on the Audio Gods to take pity on my poor pathetic soul... I'm now very wary of 3rd party products thru Drop. Shame, it sullies their otherwise good name.

No EU plug included in the box, review to be updated once it arrives.
Note: Ifi has sent me the EU power plug plate, I will reevaluate the product once the plug arrives. Unfortunately this amp does not include an EU power plug, just like the THX 789. The quickstart quide explicitly forbids the use of the device with anything other than the included (america only) 5V power plug. After a waiting time of 5 months and 62 euros in import taxes and VAT this proves to be a very expensive paper weight and it will probably be my last amp purchase via DROP. Their headphones are great and well priced but look elsewhere if you want something to power them. Do not support this kind of business behaviour, you're better off getting a Shiit Magni Heresy or a Topping A90. Ps. The DROP Support doesn't offer any help, you basically need to buy another 96 Euro power supply brand new if you want to actually use the amp. No customer care whatsoever.

The Standard Zen CAN is a better value - The Signature Still Won't Disappoint
I've had almost a month of using this stack between 6-18 hours each day for music, gaming, movies, and Discord - overall I enjoy the CAN 6XX Signature's sound. Matching the gain and level settings in a blind listening test, I genuinely couldn't tell a difference in sonic quality or characteristics between this and the original Zen DAC on any of the headphones I own (that can be driven by both at the same level), but a different sound experience wasn't what I was looking for in this stack - it was the ability to enjoy the sound of the Original Zen DAC with my HUNGRY pairs of cans. (Cite to my vintage Koss, HD414, DT880 600Ω, Dekoni Blue, & K712 Pros). In what I was looking for, this thing delivers. I haven't owned the original Zen CAN Amp but my understanding is that the sound would be near enough to identical to the Signature - ask yourself if the 6XX mode and higher quality internals & power adapter are worth the $100 Upgrade. While I don't enjoy the 6XX mode on my 6XX's or any other of the headphones I've used in the last month on this thing, I'm by no means unhappy that I went for this over the standard CAN. The standard CAN is probably a better value to most and likely a great recommendation, but for a sweet colorway, upgraded power adapter, and a mode I *can* use made for one of my favorite pairs of headphones, the 6XX, I hope you enjoy its build & sound as much as I do. Speaking of the build, I'm a tremendous fan of the design & build of ifi products, especially in the ZEN line...in an ocean of black brushed aluminum boxes, a unique (IMO beautiful) chassis & case in this tier is incredibly welcome, not to mention one finished superbly well. Complaints: -The 6XX & XSpace modes do little for me on any of the headphones I own and tried, and if this is the case for you, there's a really strong argument for you to save the $100 it takes to upgrade to this from the standard Zen CAN. However, my brother loves using the 6XX mode when I asked for a second opinion so YMMV. -LEDs: The LEDs on the front of the unit are mercifully dim and tasteful. However, you do need to be looking at the unit from a relatively direct head-on angle or you simply won't see what lights are illuminated. For those of you that already own the Zen DAC - they aren't the same, as I can easily see the DAC's lights from any angle. Since I have a pretty frequent rotation of headphones, sometimes during the day, and I use 2/3 of the CAN Signature's inputs, it's slightly annoying to have to stoop over to the top of my Mid-Tower PC on the Floor several times a day to see what gain & input modes I'm on. To wrap up: if you don't feel that the light 6XX EQ & soundstage modes, power adapter, and higher grade circuitry are worth the extra cost to you, you may want to consider the standard Zen CAN, which reviewers purport sounds the same. Otherwise, the Signature is a beautiful, powerful, and versatile piece of kit. P.S.: While I skipped the pricey ifi cable for the $23 4.4mm interconnect on Amazon, it looks, feels, and sounds great.

It does sound great with the HD6XX
I do really like this product, but I have some reservation - hence the 4* rating. Likes: Sound quality is great Mild effects (button) works well with the HD6XX Satisfying volume control Comes with a really great power supply that usually sells for about $99 on its own. Dislikes: The power, input, power match and effects buttons feel really low quality. I'm not saying they will break, but they don't feel good when you push them. The shape makes it hard to stack with other items. I knew this going in, but I would have preferred a more cuboid shape. Overall, far more to like than complain about. I would recommend for sure.

Want to dance with this!
Have you ever go to a concert and find the band sound different than the studio recording? But you have a great time? The iFi Zen Signature stack give me this experience. When paring with the 6XX with the 6XX button on, this partnership gives me more fun than any other amp.  The selling point on the iFi Zen Signature is pushing the 6XX and they archive it. Sure, you are still better off using a tube amp for any Vocal or single instrument playback. However, this is great for anything else, especially electronic or club/dance music where pure clarity is not required. 6XX is a great headphone but has it limit. The iPower X is great add-on. But I know some of you do not believe in clean power so let us move on. The DAC – it is sharp and clean but I am a R2R guy. MQA is cool but most people cannot tell the different.  The BAD – the volume potentiometer is bad. They need at least an ALPS blue volume pot. The left and right channel won’t balance until the volume turn pass 9 o’clock. This should not happen on a $250 equipment. I like this Signature Stack with the 6XX. This is an exciting paring. I want to dance every time when listening thru it. This is now my go to set for electronic music or when I want to put smile in my face. You can digitally EQ to a similar effect, but analog EQ will always sound superior. This is a hobbyist item. I will strongly suggest this with the 6XX for people who is starting out. This is a great starting point for any hobbyist. The amp is powerful enough for most power-hungry headphone when they are ready to get a second or third headphone. This is not an end game stack.  However, it will be awesome If you can get this stack with the iPower X in the used market as a hobbyist item. I am a hobbyist.  Trust your own ears. ** The volume pot needs an upgrade/fix now.

Fixed my issue
My previous review cited a channel dropout issue but it appears to have been the result of the rear 4.4 cable not being fully plugged in. After pushing them all the way in the issue appears to be resolved. No more complaints!
