$799 buys lots of hookers and skittles. 😐
I gave up long ago on paying a premium for single 10mm drivers.
If you really want to spend that much and love bass, try the hybrid Campfire Audio Mammoth $549.
• 1 custom balanced armature (Highs)
• 1 custom balanced armature (Mid)
• 1 custom 10mm Bio-Cellulose Diaphragm Dynamic Driver (Low)
..And if you want the similar but warm sound signature, smoother, impactful bass and inexpensive price, go for the TFZ Galaxy T2. A single 12mm driver. $89 Also, Blon 03 has less harsh highs, but same bass.
You won't be disappointed.😃
Have these and love em. Everyone saying 'no' doesn't know what they're missing; even at this price it's easily worth it. The paint does wear down after a month or two, in the area that rests on your ear; they also get a little discolored from skin oil.
You have these Ikkos and Grado Whites... all my gear is black. I've been telling people for ages that black is the pinnacle of fashion but it seems like you're the only one that gets it.
avoidworkI believe that at a pricepoint like this, perhaps something a little better than paint on plastic (?) would be warranted. I'm sure any DIY-fan would be capable of taping off and spraying a pair of $10 in-ears with some gold spray using proper sanding/application/sealing methods and it would have more longevity than something like this. This all just makes it seem gaudy, cheap, maybe poking fun at the limits of what people will buy - even though one would be paying quite the steep price for these particular IEMs.
What exactly are you paying for? The sound performance? The sound signature? Brand name?By the way, I don't think the car analogy works in this case. And - how do you even scratch the paint off your headphones? In the tens of years I've used headphones, not one of them has any cosmetic damage to them. (My DT990s clips broke and i replaced them with better material clips though, as the rare exception.)
My advice would be to treat your equipment with just a bit more care and maybe stop constantly rubbing the natural oils of your skin along the painted surfaces. Or maybe grab some clearcoat epoxy and brush it on those little spots that do tend to wear down in your particular circumstance.
I don't know. 1000 $ for that? Then go and buy Beyerdynamic Xelento Remote or Cayin Fantasy YD01. They both sound like Angels are singing in your Ears.
