How does this compare to the Misfit Bolt?

sooperbabyHey sooperbaby,
Collin from the ilumi team here. There's several differences that separate us from others like the Misfit Bolt. For one, we have a patent that allows us to achieve maximum color saturation at maximum possible brightness-- that means our colors pop with a vibrant glow and fill your room with incredibly saturated color. Not only that, but our bulbs are brighter as well.
Secondly, our patented Bluetooth mesh network allows for complete home control with a super simple setup process. Like the Bolt, all you need is the bulb and a device, no hub required. However, our patented Bluetooth mesh allows our bulbs to not only communicate to the device, but they communicate with each other as well, creating a network of bulbs that can pass along commands from one to another.
Lastly, our bulbs are incredibly intelligent. Each bulb has its own built-in memory and clock, so anytime you set a default color, Rise & Shine simulated sunrise, scene scheduler, vacation mode, etc, those settings are stored right inside the bulb so that your device does not have to be within range of the bulbs for that particular program to activate.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any additional questions!

collin.sThese features are nice, but they also mean idle power. Could you provide some information on that ?

HabaneroGreat question Mr. Habenero. Are you referring to idle power to the bulb or idle power being drawn in the background on your device?
Idle power to the bulb-- ilumi require full power at the switch to be controlled through the app. When ilumi is turned off from the app but switch is in the 'on' position, it pulls less than 1W of power, much like leaving your TV, toaster, stereo, etc plugged in at the wall.
Idle power on device-- Some ilumi features do require the app to run in the background (Torch & Shake). That said, you can schedule these to only be active during certain times of the day so that you aren't draining your battery by having these running all day in the background when you aren't even near your bulbs. Additionally, ilumi and compatible device utilize Bluetooth Low Energy which aims to minimize the power draw required to operate a device and its peripherals via Bluetooth.
Hope this helps!

collin.sI meant idle power for the bulb. On the device, unless your are using wakelocks, it is up to the BT driver to draw less power, not so much the app, to my knowledge. But on the bulb it is important data. Say I buy 10, for the different rooms of my house. It will still be 10W continuously drawn. Mind you, it is still less than other bulbs, but more than a non-intelligent bulb. Some say in France we could close a couple power plants if we switched idle appliances completly off, on a premium priced product that targets energy saving, this is an important problem to address. Thank you for taking the time to reply to consumers comments.

HabaneroHey Habanero,
You're correct in your assumptions about the BT driver regulating bulb power, I was referring the app drawing power with regards to your device. You are also correct that it would draw slightly more power than a non-intelligent bulb. These are things that we are aware of, and being an eco-friendly company, we're constantly performing additional R&D to reduce idle power draw and achieve a truly energy efficient bulb.
Appreciate your curiosity and feedback!
