Zenith is an upgrade over the OG R1. It's not my favorite IEM, but it has a lot to like. It's particularly good for people who like to tinker with EQ and don't mind changing nozzles to get the right signature. Also good for those who want to experiment with sound signatures. Doesn't do anything poorly, and can be enjoyed with just about any genre. The port on the back is improved and now it is clear whether it is open or closed.
However, it isn't perfect. Those familiar with the R1 might struggle finding the right filter, and the Zenith isn't the most technically proficient. The recessed 2-pin sockets aren't compatible with every aftermarket cable. The improved port is a little off-putting visually, but that's not going to be true for every person.
For $499, the Zenith is a fair value at best if one looks at the item alone. Bob from IMR has done an incredible job with customer service and is typically responsive and tries to solve the issues. If he supports the warranty on these, then the Zenith is a much better value.
