Why do all modern mechanical keyboards still use a typewriter layout?
We don't use type writers anymore?
Its what people are accustomed to, there are other layouts available out there its just what the norm has become.
You can use whatever you like on the ergodox :)
QWERTY is not subject to JUST modern keyboards, also, what's wrong with the layout? besides nitpicking about ergonomics, distance, etc. It's a perfectly fine layout, universally used, and not really worth the switch if you are a good typer on it.
No i mean the staggered keyboard design that all keyboard still have compared to the infinity ergodox having a liniar layout.
The ergodox is arranged in collumns. Why has no keyboard addapted to this before?
They have. The ergodox is not the pioneer of columnar layout. This layout also only works on split keyboards as your hands have to contort to an odd way on a normal case to try columns like that
I type in programmers dvorak.
Will my typing accuracy improve?
With the infinity ergodox?
Not necessarily. I type more accurately than some of the dvorak users at work. It just depends on how much you practice. Dvorak is really built to reduce the movement of a hand for programmers which is why the keys are layed out in that fashion
people are literally stupid is the answer.
How is that the answer? Most people don't know, or even care. We are interested because it is our hobby but why would someone who doesn't care much about computers, and even less about keyboards, care if we use staggered or ortholinear layouts? I love my columnar layouts but, really, who cares?
You forgot your gimmicky # pcmasterrace tag.
