Due to life and its weirdness. I am contemplating purchasing a prefabbed unit just to speed up the integration process ! I am thinking that having two will be of benefit in the long run. I have my Ubuntu machine sitting next to my Windows device . They both have their own displays and keyboards now probably best to just get the ball rolling! Anyway any good advice on the prefabbed ones? Just thinking about them makes my wrists feel better.

The only ergodox available from a company is the ergodox ez. Everything else afaik would be a private sale.

You could possibly be correct. I don't know. What I have come to realize is that the "Massdrop" units are the most up to date in design. No others seem to have the built in screens. So; old boards old design! The whole thing kind of got me thinking......usually not a good thing .......When is the next new design/upgrade due to hit? Is there even one currently being worked on? Given that my long range plans are to own two of them, these are things worth investigating. If anyone is knowledgeable on said topic please spread the word!

I have also searched for options for another Infinity before the next drop. There is the occasional kb on Ebay but most are well above the purchase price. Cost for a custom board run for just a few boards is pretty high (and unlike the original Ergodox, the Infinity requires two distinct boards for each hand.) Wanting a board for work so I don't have to lug my big wooden one around, I've just invested in the boards and components for the original Dox and will assemble a few of those.
FWIW, besides ergodox-ez there is a company in Poland that will make them for you with various options: http://falbatech.pl/ but I haven't done business with them.

The infinity design is about a year old and is part of Input.club lineup of various keyboards using the same firmware. There is no one person running this show; ergodox-ez is based on mods of the original Ergodox and there are a few community mods out there too which are not commercial. I don't expect the infinity design to change much, it's already a super capable platform for a keyboard. Unfortunately it uses surface-mount components directly on the board and is less easy for full component assembly than the original ergodox so you will probably only ever see bulk boards with components already stuffed. I'm okay with that, but the problem now is that it's expensive enough to do these runs that only I:C has done it, and they are selling only through Massdrop as far as I can tell. I did run across the company that says they have made these boards on Alibaba though, so someone else could always do a run of these...

I believe FalbaTech is the name of the company? Unfortunately most of the reviews i can find for them are negative. Makes me vary wary of the situation.

I am building two original ergodoxes for my office use with cases from mechanicalkeyboards.com, boards from an Amazon seller, Teensy 2.0 from PRJC, other parts from Digikey, keys from the new Kaihua Drop here: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/kaihua-kailh-speed-switches and keycaps from the drops I am longing for here ...
