This looks great but is just too expensive for what it is. Don't really need it to have an LCD screen or be capable of stopping bullets. Just need an ergonomic mechanical keyboard. Guess I'm better off trying to make my own.
Lowest price is the same as on a standard ErgoDox drop. I invite you to check the prices on ergonomic mechanical keyboards and you'll see that this is more than fairly priced.
This price is right on compared to other ergonomic mechanical keyboards out there. Price a Truly Ergonomic, or a Kinesis Advantage, or a Maltron. Granted, if you place a $ value on your time, this gets a lot more expensive. But if you put a $ value on your time, then you don't even want to look at the cost of going completely custom home made. There may be advantages to making your own, but cost is certainly not one of them if your time has any value.
Even if you value your time, it won't take more than an hour to solder all the switches in. Probably could do it in half an hour if you've soldered before. It's not like before where we also had to solder SMD diodes and the usb plug and the other components on.
