Well my first order to prepare for the ergodox arrived today. I ordered some SIP sockets so that I will be able to have the ability to hotswap my LED when installed with the purple zelios switch I ordered for this drop. Thanks to whoever in this thread that provided the tutorial on how to make the switches LED hot swapabble. I don't remember who it was but I thought I'd give thanks where it's due.
In the tutorial it doesn't mention the ergodox so I'm worried if this will work or not. I guess I'll solder one switch with the SIPinstalled and see if it will work. Can't wait! Now I'm waiting for my soldering kit so I'll have all the tools I need before the ergodox arrives.
SIPs definitely work on the ergodox infinity :D
But start pulling the SIPs apart as soon as you can, it's quite time consuming. And even more so when you have to pull the key switches apart to insert the SIPs.
Chuck on a movie or a podcast to keep yourself sane during the process :-)
Make yourself a switch opening tool from some small sized bulldog clip handles: https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/i-did-a-guide-of-how-to-open-cherry-switches-t2458.html#wrapper (scroll down about 1/2 way)
Have fun :-)
I adore the coloring, but you need to get a cohesive ergodox keycap set! :p
Wow that looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. Now I can only hope time will go by faster.
Eta: my first set of "cohesive" keys will be the SA Carbon, and hopefully in the future granite, jukebox and 1976. ;-)
also thanks for th tips. I shall try them. I don't mind putting in extra time. I think it will be worth it in the end since any keycap sets I buy here i'll be able to change the leds to fit the theme.
Yes! I have some garerons now I'll be practicing with. Hope the zelios will be the same.
I call it "Ice Disco" LOL
