Sorry for the delayed update on the Ergodox Kit. It’s taken longer than we expected for our warehouse to finalize checking the quantity of right and left PCBs, so these expect to be shipped in the next 1-2 weeks. Those impacted by this delay will have their shipment expedited.
The warehouse needs to unbox and check every unshipped kit, collect and re-count the inventory, and get everything re-packaged up before they can ship the remaining orders. The shipping is contingent on us having sufficient parts after checking the inventory, which as of now is looking to be the case.
We apologize for the lack of communication throughout this drop. We are working on improving our update process, and the team is doing the best they can to make sure everyone gets what they ordered. Thank you to everyone for their patience with this drop.
We will update you all on or by 10/11.
FINALLY an update. By 10/11 do you mean 11th of October or 10th of November?
October 11th. In the U.S. it's always month/day
Hi I got 2 of the kits and one of the kit's was missing one standoff and the second layer from the top is cracked.
Eagerly awaiting today's update.
All I can say is that it better be good. It has been a full month since the two right hand pcb issue was discovered and there has yet to be a single meaningful update. Acknowledging that people were sent the wrong parts and telling us you will count the remaining parts doesn't count towards a solution.
It is beyond absurd that it has taken a month to get a count of how many PCBs are remaining. The majority of the orders were sent out before the issue was discovered and the drop was limited to 800 units. Based on the posts here more than half of the orders were sent out before the issue was discovered which leaves at most ~400 boxes to open and inspect. 4 weeks at 40 hours/week is 160 hours which gives you almost 25 minutes to open a box and check it's content if only 1 person is doing them all. It took me 2 minutes to open my box and realize I was sent the wrong parts. What the hell is taking so long?
After the last lackluster apology, are you really going to miss an update again? This shows a serious issue with your moral integrity, not to mention the reflection on the company.
Thanks for the update ... I was a bit confused when a shipping label was sent to FedEx on 9/22 as it's normal for the package to be sent to the carrier within a couple of days. If you're opening and manually checking every package, I can certainly see why there's a delay. I should also note that a few more concise updates like the one above would have kept me from repeatedly bugging your support personnel (then they could have checked packages too).
One weird note about your updates - I get an email notification for most every comment that's posted to this thread but never see one for your updates.
Woo hoo ... I just got a shipping notice (and this time it actually says the package was picked up by FedEx)!
Well I guess tenth of November is better than never. Still seems a while for another update.
An update was posted five days ago by AveryCorley. Here's the content of the post:
" Hi Everyone,
We have an update on the Ergodox Kit. We’ve received confirmation from the warehouse that we have the correct quantity of left and right PCBs. Now the warehouse is re-packaging all orders and preparing them for shipment. We expect these remaining orders to start shipping by 10/20, and the shipments will be expedited.
Thanks to everyone for their patience with this drop. We're looking forward to you all receiving the Ergodox kits."
It's in the American Date format, so October 11th. See below comments for pasted email that was indeed sent out on October 11th.
Yep, FedEx just notified me today that they picked up the order, so it's definitely in transit. Hopefully everyone else gets similar news this week. FedEx is showing it as FedEx 2 Day, so Massdrop is making good on their promise to expedite the remaining kits.
Mine arrived yesterday with one piece of damaged acrylic and a second piece that was mis-manufactured (the stock wasn't clamped to the router well enough). As soon as my phone recharges, I'll file a support ticket (with pictures). So sad! This is my second Ergodox keyboard and I have to say the quality of the acrylic is far superior on the one I'm currently typing on. The good news (from a really warped perspective) is that my Carbon SA keycaps won't arrive until March so I have plenty of time to get the problems with the keyboard kit sorted out.
I received the order today in Berlin, Germany. I had to pay 45.82 euros in customs for it, and I ended up with two right hand sides, well at least the PCBs are correct.
EDIT: I am an idiot, they're flippable, everything is fine, thank you everyone for the help :)
the cases are reversible. all cases were shipped as right hand builds. Just flip the pieces over when you re-assemble it to make the left.
The 45€ are the famous Mehrwertsteuer, same for me.
just flip the cases.
If you finished the build just tell me if the stabs did work for you.
Yes, I was just hoping I don't have to pay for a new part as well, but everything is fine now.
I am planning to build it this long weekend (Reformationstag wooho!). Will ping you when I finish the build.
