Can someone explain to me how things work on Massdrop? What actually is taking so much time? developing/testing of the pcb's orthe pcb soldering? The pcb soldering shouldn't take that much because i work in a factory that makes pcbs for cars and in 8 hours 300-400 pcbs are made.

This is a bit of an unusual drop for Massdrop. Normally they just place a bulk order with a vendor, sort it out into individual orders and send them on their way. In this case, the drop is more like a kickstarter campaign. Additionally, even after production is complete, this drop is more complicated than most. There are many more parts and variations in individual orders than there are on a typical drop.
This drop was started when the keyboard was in late development. That means they have been finishing development and ramping up for production. These things take time.

Yes, but what is with the lack of updates? I mean, even something as small as a twitter-like update would calm most of us down. Ex: "concluding final programming of ____, testing looks promising, part on order; still waiting on _____." Honestly, even one component of all that would be sufficient. Delays aren't that bad as long as you know what's going on. Delays with no updates is agonizing and eventually makes people angry.

These things take time, agreed, but 1 post in here takes 10 seconds.

I don't know why they aren't giving us updates. Probably HaaTa and crew are running the show more than the Massdrop people. I do know that HaaTa has been doing a lot of work of his firmware, but unless he is keeping it off the main GitHub repo, he doesn't appear to have added support for the infinity Dox. He is probably doing quite a bit more that we don't see.
For the record, I would appreciate an update as well.

Actually, he just pushed support for the mk20dx256vlh7 controller to github, either today or yesterday.
So at least the firmware part seems to be covered. I hope that the rest is too.

Cool, but I don't think it is quite good to go yet. I believe we still need a scan code for MDErgo1. I could be wrong though; I'm still trying to piece it all together.

While everything you said is valid (at least as far as I know, and I don't know all that much admittedly...), I think the point most people are trying to make is that it should have come from Massdrop. That's on them. The fact that enough users know enough about the process, the github repo, etc, etc, that's fantastic. That's community.
What it is NOT is an update from Massdrop. Even a "Yep, that's exactly right!" would be enough to satisfy most people.

Email customer support, they are clearly not reading these comments based on the number of ppl begging for an update going unnoticed.

If you are that impatient you should have spent twice the amount on parts from a different website because this is pretty much expected on massdrop hahaha. Sorry but its truth.

Actually most items you buy on massdrop are only slightly cheaper. This item is currently a massdrop exclusive and can't buy it anywhere else to get it immediately for a higher price

The fact that products are cheaper than at other places does not imply that users stop expecting a good experience. Frankly speaking it is cheaper to assemble the ergodox by sourcing parts individually than get it here. The sole reason I jumped in is because they are trying something new with the circuits and software.

I mean just the basic ergodox. Yes there are places to buy the parts to build one but not this exact kit you are correct.

Your gleeful exhortation to go buy this elsewhere is not helpful. Obviously, this is not available anywhere else, we wouldn't have bought the ErgoDox Infinity kit if we wanted the original ErgoDox kit, and MD has a very bad reputation of not saying a bloody thing when they should be openly communicating.
Just stop. Please.

I am confused at: "we wouldn't have bought the ErgoDox Infinity kit if we wanted an ErgoDox"

There is a difference. This kit vs. other EDs.
Also, as others said, just because it is cheaper (which is because of _mass_ purchase) doesn't mean they can't communicate. Other drops communicate better, I've participated in. This is no excuse at all and far from being a valid argument!

Nonsense. I have participated on other drops, and we have received periodic updates. I'm not saying I didn't expect delays or that I'm worried about the drop, but to suggest we should expect it and move on is pure foolishness.
