Is there a map or guide to distinguish where these DCS keypads are supposed to go?

Those don't really correlate with what I received and the ergodox isn't quite that simple. What goes in the thumb cluster, for example?

Also, the photos from the ErgoDox PBT DCS drop might be helpful:

Austin, the dcs set we receive for the ergodox set does not look like the one Ziggurat posted.
The follow are from my memory on the top of the head from building it last night.
Compare to the picture he posted,
Take out row 5 from the file we did not receive it.
We received a set of row 1, 2, 3 and two sets of the row 4 with sharp angle (second to the right)
you will get extra u1 four buttons for row 1 and row 2 (or 3.) each those are for the thumb button
There will also be 4 u1.5 row 3 extra, those are for the linear buttons on the finger area.
I had to take out a measuring tool too sort out the key caps....... a bit of labeling would help future potential buyers.....

Agreed, some labeling would have saved me a lot of time on these keys. Even sorting out the keys was a little tough, I wasn't exactly sure how many of each key there would be.
I used the pictures and information from another Massdrop DCS drop to compare the keycaps and positions. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/ergodox-keycap

Mine looked like that as well, and then one of the "arms" completely broke off this morning.

From what I read on the drop, the puller isn't really very sturdy. Some people were recommending soldering/supergluing the prongs into the base to keep it from breaking (or to repair it).
If I were to join the drop again, I would probably not get the puller.

To know which key is which row, I used this when building my original 'Dox:
http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/8853e7a752ee3e156e968ffb3b1389d1
The number on each key is the row that it belongs to. I do agree that they really should identify them somehow to help us out when building them.

In a previous Massdrop I found there were 4 row types for a DCS slant profile. Here is a diagram where each row is placed:
