Is anyone else having finicky LED holes on the left hand side of the Ergodox? I finished assembling he right half and the left half, but the asymmetry due to said holes not always lighting up (Or some of them being completely kaput from the get-go) Is bugging me.
I filed a support ticket about it, but I also want to check how many other people've experienced this.
What resistor are you using and which LEDs? I'd imagine it's related to the resistance of the bridge cable and how effective/complete the soldering is on the board. Are you using the SIP socket mod?
These are the LEDs I'm using: http://amazon.com/gp/product/B008D5K68K
I highly recommend them, they're definitely packaged a lot better than what the reviews suggest. They ship in fast and one pack is good enough for one half of the Ergodox.
Anyway, the LEDs came with a pack of 200 ohm resistors. I'm not using those resistors though.
Here's the shot of the back of the left hand side. Slots 3 and 6 I've had a hard time cleaning out because I was worried I soldered the LEDs in the wrong way (when it turns out those slots were non-functional to begin with). The LEDs that used to be there worked when plugged into my LED tester tester, but not when I plugged in the keyboard with them in.
As for slots 7, 13, 14, 18, 28, and 37, those stopped working after I finished cleaning up slots 3 and 6. I inspected all the connections at the numbers that aren't 3 and 6 and they are solid.
Slots 3 and 6 I'm not sure if I can salvage given what I mentioned about them. Nothing can be inserted back into them.
I am not using an SIP socket mod, but after looking up what that was, I definitely should consider getting those in the future.
