I know this is a little off-topic, but has anyone successfully gotten the original Ergodox design to work with a KVM switch?
I just got a KVM switch at work, and it seems my ergodox doesn't work with it at all. Should I see if updating/flashing newer firmware on it will help?
My two “old” Doxes work fine with my KVM switch. I use it daily for my Linux work and Windows gaming machines.
I haven’t tried, but I guess you won’t be able to _flash_ the board through the switch. Everything else works, apart from the multimedia keys the switch has issues with regardless of the keyboard.
Does your Infinity Ergodox work with the KVM switch? Mine does not.
@Sevion I believe the Infinity Ergodox and the KLL firmware with support for NKRO can cause some issues with how the HID device ID appears to the KVM. Also, are your KVMs USB2.0 compatible?
@ArnoNym are your original Ergodox running TMK or the default firmware, if they aren't running an NKRO version that might be why they work with a KVM.
Both. I actually don’t know if I had NKRO enabled at some point. Not that you’d need it anyway :)
I could have been clearer: I mean, has there been any changes to the Ben Blazak Ergodox firmware that might improve compatibility with a KVM?
Of course, I'd flash directly connected to the computer :)
@anro it's strange that some people have it working with kvms others don't, I would suggest if there is a firmware that supports 6kro that you try flashing it and see if it has better compatibility than the NKRO.
I have no idea, I haven’t flashed anything new in ages.
