On the zealios website it has the plate mounted switches which are more friendly to people who haven't soldered before. Would there be any downside to using a plate mounted switch?? Does anyone know if the switches it comes with are pcb or plate mount?
aust_schPCB mounted switches are always more stable when mounted on a PCB that supports them.
As for the switches offered with the Dox, they are regular transparent housing PCB mounted switches.

ZealAny idea how prone the transparent switches are to having soldering issues vs the milky bottom ones?
aust_schAs long as you solder normally and don't overheat the pins+pad for too long, you won't have any issues. If you're afraid of overheating the joints, then you're welcome to pick up some milky bottom ones.
