My package came in from the previous drop with missing stabilizers. By the way, you shipping carrier is really horrible. The package could have been at my place earlier but it was on the same status for days. Also, now the same thing is happening with the stabilizers. They won't be here before the end of next week.
I'm much more disappointed to see after buying two ergodox keyboards from last round they change the new connectors to USB type C. I did not get a chance to build it yet and there's already a newer versíon out there.
Why did you not sell the type c USB version in the first place? I am not happy with massdrop at all. I spent a huge amount of money for two ergodoxes and their keys and waited months for it, only to find out by the time I get it there is already a revised board? With much faster and easier to use interconnect.
At least yours didn't get further delayed by the post office. Mine was supposed to arrive yesterday (after DHL held it for 4 days to hit their shipping estimate, apparently) but the post office sent it to the wrong local branch and I don't get it till Monday, now... I hope. I'd love to be able to pick my shipping level in future drops, even if it cost more. I'd be happy to pay for shipping by a competent carrier.
Seriously, we're supposed to be grateful that they're offering it with free shipping, but takes almost two weeks just to reach the west coast? I know I'm not in the minority when I say I'd rather pay for faster shipping. Then with the stabilizer issue, now it'll be another 10 days before I can even build it. Add to that the USB-C drama and I'm not going to lie, this drop could have gone better for us.
I mean, at least it was only shipping problems this time. The first drop was a mess on all fronts, I'm glad the second one went so much smoother. But man, all this shipping mess has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Why on earth would you wait for the stabilizers before building your Dox? Most people end up not even using the stabilizers anyway...
Also, what USB-C drama? I've heard HaaTa talk about maybe upgrading to USB-C sometime in the future, but I've heard no indication that it's actually going to happen. I think anyone that went into this drop expecting it had wildly unrealistic expectations (and also didn't read the description).
The description for the currently-open drop clearly indicates that USB type C is used. Which is a good thing, since it's likely to be the new universal cable standard.
Ok, neato. Still not sure why this constitutes a "drama"...
By constantly improving our designs, we are helping the rest of the keyboard community to make better keyboards. Also, with the addition of Type C, there is absolutely no change in functionality. We are using Type C connectors to make a marginal structural improvement to address issues that affected a few people in the first Infinity ErgoDox run.
