Can someone help me? When I click 'Flash' under DFU Flashing Utility, there is nothing in the window, its just blank, even when I only load the default layout firmware, really confused...
I think so: hit flash on the main hand --- open zadig_2.2 --- install driver with Kiibohd DFU Bootloader and WinUSB selected --- open kii-dfu --- load main_hand_file.bin --- click Flash --- nothing shows inside the window ):
Did you click list devices?
Yes same thing , nothing appears in the window, does it have anything to do with win10?
It works fine on my computer with Win10, so I wouldn't say that's the problem. It sounds like your drivers are not installed properly. Did you put the board in flash mode before using the driver installer?
yes, i tried both hitting the flash button and using the default layer 2 flash key before installing the driver. Its fine to reinstall the driver several times right ?
Thanks, how can i manually remove driver?
Did you hit "list device" first?
hit it after installing the driver? yes there is nothing showing in the window.. but the driver can always be installed successfully. just the step after opening kii-dfu is not responding, i have also tried redownload the software and didn't work either
1. press the s39 on the board, the LCD should turn red, if not, your PCB has problem.
2. install driver
3. open kii-dfu see if it can list the device with the serial, if not, there is something wrong with the driver, or with the keyboard not enumerated on the host. You can use device manager or usbview etc to see if there is any device newly enumerated first. To isolate if the problem is with the USB connection (hardware-wise) or if it is a driver issue etc.
you mentioned you hit flash button, did you mean the flash button (keycap assigned) or the s39? you should use s39 first. I think if there is no keyboard mapping in your broad, then the keycap flash button would not work...
I tried both s39 and hit the flash key, however, the first time I flashed it I hit the flash key not s39 (because it has the default keymap and it does work just like a keyboard with flash set to layer 2 top right key). On step 2, I have 'driver was installed successfully'. Step 3, when I click 'list devices' both buttons turn grey and nothing shows in the window like the screenshot I showed earlier. I am guessing something is wrong with the driver?
Have you checked that the driver is working correctly from the Windows device manager?
I can't find the driver kiibohd under device manager, or is it under another name? which submenu is it in?
When your keyboard is in Bootloader mode, it should be under "Universal serial bus devices/Kiibohd DFU bootloader". At least that's where it is on Windows 10.
When it's not in bootloader mode, the whole section "Universal serial bus devices" is missing(for me). But you should still be able to see it, if you select "View/Show hidden devices". If you see it there, try to uninstall it and re-install the driver.
If you have some other driver in that category, you might have some that is incompatible, so you may have to disable or uninstall that first.
Edit: I forgot to say, that if it's not working it might show up as a question mark. You should be able to see the question mark appear and disappear as you enter and exit the bootloader mode.
I was able to uninstall the driver, but Zadig drop down menu no longer has the Kiibohd DFU Bootloader option when Ergo is under flash mode. Therefore I cannot reinstall driver from Zadig. However when I unplug and replug in the keyboard, the driver comes back in device manager. I should also note that when I just reinstall the driver directly (not uninstall at all), there is a yellow warning sign appear on Kiibohd DFU driver under Device Manager. Here is a screenshot
Is there something wrong with the hardware? Thank you for helping me.
Can you find something with these PID VID?
Vendor ID VID: 0x1C11
Product PID: 0xB007
1. Does the LCD turn red? Yes -> the device can go to flash mode
2. Do you see device with Vendor ID: 0x1C11 Product: 0xB007? Yes -> your hardware is probably OK, and OS can recognize the device in flash mode (but the driver may still have problem) If you have little yellow question marked device, try to check it's PID and VID, to see if it is another piece of hardware or is the ergodox keyboard
if it is showing up like this, your PCB has no problem I guess, it should be a driver issue, right click the "!" item, and check what issue it is, like... "the driver cannot start (error code 10)", "driver not installed" or blahblahblah click and see what's the issue first.
Hi kevin, I was able to find the vendor ID and Product ID.
Something new came up yesterday. kii-dfu was able to list device (i have no idea why it just suddenly did). It is working fine now, just added my own keymap. (:
Thank you for helping me
Do you have the problem when your computer wakes/gets turned on but the Ergodox won't work unless you unplug and re-plug it in?
I have yet to test this, let me try... quite busy and no time to decide on a custom layout (the default does not suit me very well..)
