If you dont choose the switch, what kind of plate/pcb will be sent? i assume the pcb/plate will be different for Matias switches?
Nope, PCB/plate is universal.
Really? but i've tried using an mx tester and the matias didn't fit in the plate.....interesting then.
How do the zealious compare to the othe swicthes? it seems they're hilghly regarded.
They're most similar to clears. Essentially, they have completely different insides with a gateron housing. Round 1 & 3 zealios switches suffered wobbly stems. However, R4 group buy should solve that. I'm not sure which version is included as part of this group buy. Most likely R3 zealios. Would not be an option I would choose.
The zealios offered here will be round 4!
It's possible to make universal, but that does not mean every PCB/plate is universal.
Actually, very few are universal, but the infinity ErgoDox is one of the few that is.
Thanks for letting us know! The earlier Zealios switches suffered from quite a few issues (chattering was pretty bad too), but they're amazing when they work.
For that reason I personally think this drop including R4, which is supposed to have fixed those issues, is really important information – any chance of adding that info to the description so people don't have to dig through the comments for it?
Interesting, so they're tactile but not clicky right?I think i might buy this kit without switches for now.
I ordered the max mx switch tester but the zealious are not included. I assume then that i can either use alps based or mx switches right? Need to check more variants of these. Im also torn between clicky and tactile.
With the Zeal GB just ending, didn't think you guys would be able to get your hands on them for this drop. Nice collaboration with ZealPC :)
Yeah, I agree. So they won't make the same assumptions like I did xD
Tactile is more of a safer bet imo. I do like clicky, but after a while it can get a bit annoying. I mainly use clicky switches for gaming and essay writing, but have my HHKB and Novatouch for note taking or when I just want peace and quiet. Tactile is a nice compromise between clicky and linear I feel.
Should i get these ? hummm
So do you guys advise on these switches?
So a lot of it is personal preference. What type of switches have you tried? What do you like usually?
Matias don't fit into MX plates, but these are universal (Cherry MX + Alps / Matias) plates - same as with the Infinity 60% keyboard. The PCB also have elongated holes to fit the switch contacts of both Cherry MX and Matias.
well ive tried most of mx switches and some gateron. I like both tactile and clicky. I ordered that Max switch tester from maxkeyboards that includes most of mx switches and 5 gaterons.
