My error. I didn't realize that the clearances at the base were so tight. Aluminum full hand addon + leds with leads that have to be trimmed and then bent flush was just a short waiting to happen. This was my fault, and nothing wrong on your end. I ended up cutting a piece of insulating plastic just to be safe. Sorry for the trouble!
The soldered pins of switches or especially leds should not be touching the bottom case layer, and no stress should result because of that. If they are touching the bottom, then perhaps you might have reordered the plate stack? Otherwise, if the stack is okay, if you could show me a high resolution photo of the back of the circuit board, that'd be great.
