just got done building my kit and I'm typing this with my new keyboard. I'm definitely going to have to retrain my brain to use a split keyboard. Didn't realize how much I was moving my hands around on a regular keyboard. but after an hour or two I'm already feeling like I'm getting it.
overall I'm very happy. build went smooth and all my parts were in good order. I really love the feel of the zealios switches and I'm glad I went with that option. feels like a cross between a brown and a blue cherry switch. the full hand addon is also quite nice and improves the overall look and feel of the keyboard quite a bit.
It's been a long wait but I think its been worth it.

Jaysbob"feels like a cross between a brown and a blue cherry switch" — That's a perfect description for the Zealios switches, I think :) I concur that the feel of the switches is absolutely great.

JaysbobOh thanks. Great build man :) How's the feel typing on it moving from a normal keyboard layout to a split layout and the keys with an ortholinear layout to go with it?

Mll8394Thanks! I'm still adjusting to the layout but I can already tell its more comfortable to type on. My hands and arms feel more relaxed as I'm typing. I have to get used to resting my hands and just moving my fingers around. I also sometimes lose my home row and find I'm typing one row over from where I think I am. The biggest hurdle atm is getting used to which keys are on which side of the split as there's some keys on the right I'm used to pushing with my left hand and vica versa. It's all just a matter of practice though, I can feel myself improving. If you're a semi-competent touch typist it shouldn't be too much of an adjustment.

JaysbobLoving my Gatron blacks. Although having opted to put together my own set of keycaps I have weird size caps all over the place, so I'm eagerly waiting for a modifier set to drop for this keyboard. Other than that though it's just going to take some time for my fingers to get used to the column layout of the keys as opposed to the offset row layout I've become used to from years using mass manufactured keyboards. :P Main problem is that my thumbs don't know what to do with themselves. :P Also kinda wish the second long button on the thumb cluster was two buttons so that I could have both the delete and backspace near my left thumb but still have a space key under the thumbs resting position as well. Mostly just finding that I don't have sufficient switches for all of the keys I use. Being a programmer I use just about every key on a standard 80% type layout whereas this is more like a 72% gonna take some getting used to. :P And adding layers that are logical and accessible will be key to getting around that I think.

JaysbobI really like what you did with the blueprint under the acrylic hand portion. What a great and simple way to customize it.

AlexPkThanks! Just sandwiched it between the layers and trimmed it down. Very simple to change as well. It offers some neat possibilities.

OatburnerI don't think it's an amplifier but it's a schematic for a tube something.

JaysbobWell now I'm super mad that I missed this drop by one day... :( Regardless very nice keyboard! Big fan of what you did with hand rests.

JaysbobDid you have to switch the direction of LEDs for half the board? I had that issue with my PCB and some of them didn't work at all (not an issue with the LEDs)
