I bought a pair of Inov-8's X-Talon Ultra 200s for my trip to the jungles of Thailand and Laos a few months ago, based on advice given by some rainforest guides in Cuba. They're similar to these shoes — cleated runners made for difficult terrain. Order half a size up.

I'm very pleased with the shoes — they performed admirably, and are quite comfortable. I wear them everywhere now, including to my office every day at an IP law firm. I even wore them to the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago yesterday, where I met with a federal judge and his deputy in the hallway outside the courtroom! My wife thinks I'm ridiculous and that the shoes, which have been through a lot, damage my otherwise immaculate tie, vest and tortoiseshell persona. She's probably right about that.

Wish a size 13 was available; I would have definitely joined this drop if it were. :/

How water resistant are these, anyone know? Much appreciated.

Sir_BigzalotNot water resistant. These are designed to let water in, but also out quickly.

Bought them a year ago, comfortable, rather snug, with a good grip but the mesh started tearing up quite badly in less than 4 months of moderate use...

Poor pitiful guy... My first sentence isn't interrogative, and my review just states that the shoes are great but the mesh is weak, which is the kind of stuff i'm interested in when i buy a pair of shoes, but you don't care, you're here to bash others, not for the products. And please pardon my english indeed, it's not my mother tongue. But thanks, i consider myself amoung the lucky ones indeed, can't say the same about you. Now i have other things to do, so i appologize but I have to let you spit and bark at an empty street.

Dude, you are nitpicky and an idiot. A dangerous combination, especially when accompanied by such snark and sensitivity. He provided useful real world feedback and is in no way obligated to write an entire essay on the subject nor to satisfy the likes of you. I'm sure he is very lucky. If you were having a bad day then you would have thrown even MORE snark and needless irrelevant criticism at him! Thanks for contributing to the discussion on the listed shoes, by the way. As a side note, I would like to point out that the amount of space you take up is entirely justifiable. And I mean that sincerely.

My question is about the width. I usually have to buy new balance because they come in wide width. I wear a US 12.5-13 and have an E width. Would these work, or no? It's just hard for me to get another type of shoe than the New Balance, either the 990's or 1540's, which are usually over $120. I have no problem with that price, and either of those models are VERY comfortable (the cheapie one's are TERRIBLE), but I'd at least like to have a choice. Thanks for any info provided!

YaBoyRobProbably too late to reply but I bought the 295s in the "standard width" and they were perfect! I wear a 12EE.

Gordner25US sizing. Do note that many people find Inov-8's shoes to be a tad small and often go a half-size up. I wear men's size 9 across the board and the men's Mudclaw 300 and men's Roclite 290 fit me perfectly in size 9. However, despite Inov-8 advertising all of their shoes in both men's and women's sizing, I had to get the women's Roadtalon 240 and women's Roclite 325 in women's size 11 (men's 9.5) for a perfect fit. Other than my own anecdotal experience with that half-size discrepancy, I do not believe there is a functional difference between the men's and women's version of any of their shoes.
