For the office table, the lounge, or your pocket (and a great way to settle a bet if they’re on your person), these sophisticated dice are sure to inspire conversation wherever you put them. Made from hand-blasted titanium, they feature an unconventional array of pips on each side, ranging from one dot on the corner to six dots in a flying V formation Read More
C'mon, guys. How am I supposed to save up for my London trip next spring when you're making me blow a hundred bucks on all of two gorgeous damascus steel dice that can't possibly roll correctly? This just isn't fair.
WigdaddyAbout as fair as the dice. Tbh these are more for the sake of art than for fair gameplay, so buy it for the design, not because they'll roll evenly. I'd say it's the dice equivalent of a Vertu phone, except I think those actually work.
OK stupid question time.
The fact that the dots are made of missing material and offset to sides means these dice are not properly weighted for a fair roll, right?
These are really stunning, but common sense says they won't play fair in an actual game.
I ordered the Damascus dice and received the order today, however the package only contained one die even though the Damascus option was supposed to ship as a pair. I contacted support and will post an update when I get a reply, but I‘m wondering if this happened to anyone else.
The die is heavy for its size which gives it a nice feel in my hand, though I‘d be mindful of what type of surface I’m rolling it on. It feels like it could dent a game board and scuff or dent a wood table.
I do like the die a lot and will be satisfied with the purchase as long as Massdrop sends me the second die. Two things I really appreciate are that the pips and chamfered edges are rippled in addition to the faces, and that the fingerprint-like ripples make real fingerprints less noticeable.
One odd thing I noticed is that the 3 and 4 faces are each on the side of the die where the other face would normally be. I guess it doesn't really make a difference but it does reveal the designer’s lack of experience with dice.
elionI got the following response about six hours after submitting a support request:
Hi Elion,
Thanks for contacting Massdrop Community Support and for letting us know that part of your order is missing. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. I'd be more than happy to work on correcting this.
It looks like we have some available inventory to send you the replacement for your missing unit. I have sent a shipment request to our warehouse to get that shipped out as soon as possible! We will provide you with tracking information as soon as it becomes available.
I understand this situation is not acceptable and I want to let you know that the issue has been reported to prevent future errors.
Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Warm Regards,

There is a test for balance and fairness, though you can't run it with these because of material. But I've purchased many different dice, and some with the dots changed around in the same fashion, and done the balance test on them. It didn't seem to make any difference.

The inclusions inside rather than the look outside seem to have more effect.

Are one of the ones I tested, because I was curious. They had plastic in a couple of the kickstarters (glow in the dark versions) for AKO Dice round one and two. Notice that the patterns are similarly not standard.
Just a comment.
ChuckDeeWasn't there a kickstarter where dice were made as balanced fair as technically possible? I think MD offered some of the product about a year ago. I imagine that the "dots" on each side would have to be machined to different depths on each side to account for the relative absence of weight. I would be interested if this was done before I bought these. Aaaand after reading the other comments, no, these dice are not for me.
