A keyboard’s switches play a huge role in determining the feel of each keystroke. But within a switch itself, the feel can be fine-tuned even further—starting with the stem Read More

In reference to the stems that were sent out as revisions; these are fantastic, 0 fitment issues and miles better than the rev 3 or 4 available now; in fact if anyone has some extras, hit me up and ill take them off your hands
Previous review: Not worth the effort in trying to make them work with different housings – they still feel worse and scratchier than normal KS-3s.
V2.2 review:
These are great when used with Boba top housings (whereas the previous batch were also very wobbly even with these tight housings). Pretty good wobble (similar or just a little bit worse than my retooled Cherry blacks), but could've been excellent if the stem weren't as short as it is. For bottom housings, they work very well with Bobagum bottoms, or JWK bottoms as well. They're VERY smooth. I think even smoother than 415keys PE+ stems in the same configuration. Of course, their smoothness cannot save very scratchy Cherry bottom housings, just as other stems in the market right now. Having ordered 3 packs of this in the first run, I was very disappointed. But I'm very happy I waited – I think at this point this is a very good product. Thank you zisb and Drop for finally delivering.
As these are third party stems, I wouldn't expect them to work on every possible combination due to differences in manufacturers' specs and tolerances. I don't understand giving this a low review only after trying it out in one kind of switch/manufacturer. I think part of the fun is to discover which combinations work well. Honestly this strikes at the heart of frankenswitching, where one tries to cover the weakness of one switch part by swapping it with another. Smaller-than-usual stems like these just beg to be paired with Boba tops!
Its like all the ones I got are cast offs that failed quality control checks but accidentally got shipped out as ones that passed qc. Poorest tolerances I have ever seen on stems, tried them in multiple switch housings frome different vendors yok, gateron, kailh, cherry, all the same poor fitment.
There are so many problems with them.
In depth review: https://youtu.be/j6YVFK97waY
1: The surface is rough to the point where even if they were made out of Teflon they would still be scratchy.
2: The tolerances are garbage, so they wobble like crazy and tends to lean backwards towards the contacts so the keycaps aren't even straight.
3: The stems are also ridiculously short, so the spring is completely compressed before you bottom out. This removes the satisfying, clean bottom out of a mechanical keyboard and turn it into mush. There also is no sound. It's just a sticky, muffled ping from my lubed springs. All switches sound the exact same.
The people who gave these 5 stars are either morons, or they haven't tried them yet. Invyr was talking about improvements on the V2's, so I thought they would fit nicely in my Vintage Blacks since the V1's were already pretty god. My god, I am never letting these pieces of horseshit anywhere near them. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
Experiencing all the same issues and inconsistencies everyone else here has mentioned:
Ridiculous stem wobble (worse than the v1's I have on hand to compare to)
Scratchiness
Short stem length
I've tested these in Black Inks v2, multiple JWK linears (Alpacas, Mauves, h1s, etc), Milky Top Yellows w/ Black bottom, and NK Creams. These stems are just unusuable and disappointing.
Drop does it again! All of these stems are binding because the bottom stem is LITERALLY BENT. Apparently being unable to use a stem for its intended purpose does not mean it is defective so I can’t get my money back, or so states their customer service. This was my first purchase from Drop and unless they rectify the situation it will also be my last.
EDIT: I was offered a choice between a replacement or a refund. I chose a refund. I do not trust Drop as a company as their first response to this just proved that they don’t really care about customer satisfaction after they already have your money, unless enough people make a big enough deal of how bad the end product was. I will never be purchasing from this company again, and would encourage others to not support Drop’s business practices.
The replacement stems are marginally better in terms of wobble and tilt (compared to the original batch), but the tilt is still apparent. I tried them in Alpaca, NK Cream, and Tangerine housings. I wouldn't go as far as to call them unusable: they feel fairly smooth, and the tilt isn't obvious during use (still not optimal, especially given that stock stems don't really have this issue). Compared to the stock switches, the wobble with these stems is definitely worse, which is especially evident with keycaps on. The stems technically function correctly; I tried them on a hotswap board with no issues with the switches actuating, and I didn't immediately hate the experience. Overall, the wobble and tilt issues aren't awful, but aren't pleasant either, and I frankly preferred the stock switches in each case. I'm not sure I see a good use case for these stems. Maybe someone will find a housing that these work decently in, but until then, I'll stick to other options and keep these as a memento.
Please note that I didn't bother filming or lubing any of these switches.

edit for spelling
RoninDeltaTotally agree. Wasn't better than stock on anything I tried. I couldn't believe the wobble was still so bad. Did you notice a small catch on slow press in every housing? I did. Not sure if it's the mold or something related to the tilt. Maybe causing the keycap to rub the housing differently?
Anyway, the real question is.... how do we go about getting a refund now that these are awful?
