The italic fine nib is very smooth and kudos to the nib meister. But there is a BIG BUT ! Though pictures supplied by Massdrop show a short grip section, what the pictures fail to show is the sharpness the gold band screw cap stop that is located above the threads on the barrel. Which makes this fountain pen very uncomfortable to hold for long writing sessions. Now after my purchase (my mistake) I have seen videos about this fountain pen where its suggested to grip the pen above the grip section and the gold band on the barrel would act as a stop for you fingers from sliding. This makes the pen to front heavy even with large hands and is not how I and many otherswrite with a pen. Its called a grip section for a reason. Anyway...If I could remove the gold band without damaging the pen I would do so in a heart beat and I would deal with the threads since they are not sharp. But sadly this pen it seems will be delagated to my hasbeen collection drawer. Live and learn they say, I did on this one.
