I've received the pen ordered with Medium Italic nib and I like everything except the nib performance that is far too thick and wet (almost pouring). The nib is smooth and nice but there is so much ink coming that all line variation is lost and the resulting line is actually a very Broad, constant thickness line. Even writing with the nib reversed the is very thick but much closer to a Medium and the line variation expected from an Italic nib is present. Probably the Nib slit is too much open. Actually when I unpacked the pen one of the first thing that I've noticed was the nib slit that was so open, even at the nib tip, that you immediately notice . As it is my first Italix pen I would like to hear first some opinions some users with more experience on Italix pen/nibs if this is normal? If not I should contact Massdrop support or Mr. Pen for some solution to this?

lucserI owe 3 Italix pens (among other offerings from Pelikan, Montegrappa, etc.) and they are usually on the wet side but I like that. Try the 90 grams smooth paper from Clairefountaine or similar. If the pen still doesnt give you nice line variations and pours out too much ink either try to contact customer support and discuss / arrange either nib adjustment or change to fine nib.

lucserYou could try some other inks? Monteverde is a rather dry ink that doesn't flow thick. The Pelikan 4001 range can be good to consider as well. Many of the water restitant inks flow less and appears drier and might give you a better line, Diamine Registrar and Rohrer and Klinger Documentus to name a few. But yes, the Italix pens are wet writers and generous in their nibs compared to some other pens, espacially none European ones. Give Mr Pen a direct message - that's otherwise the best option I would guess. If you like to tinker, you could probably order a #6(?) nib and replace the one with.

lucserThank you for advice. I have contacted Mr.Pen and the nib unit will be changed. Looks that the tines gap is too wide. Great customer service. Sure I will buy again as I like the pen very much.
