Why no cotton??? If you live in a HOT climate as I do, polyester becomes an uncomfortable sweaty mess for my package. JMO!

rayce444Um, cotton is AWFUL as it absorbs moisture and inhibits airflow. I live in NC, it gets pretty hot here. Cotton is for Winter.

danisaacsYou think??? Well, I live in FLORIDA where a cool day is 88 with a humidity of 80% and people wouldn't dream of wearing a petroleum based fabric near their package. Inhibits "airflow???" Hysterical. Sorry Dan, do not agree but good luck with that.

rayce444Heh, Florida doesn't have air in the summer, it has soup. The air lacks the capacity to absorb more water. :)
I can only speak as a runner. Importance is placed on wicking moisture away from your skin while also being breathable enough to allow air to circulate between the two sides of the fabric. Cotton holds moisture, becomes a beacon for fungus and other microbial monsters. And the chafing....not good.
A well engineered wool is best, but polyester mixes are still much better than cotton.

danisaacsHey Dan....if you wear underwear long enough to be "a beacon for fungus and other microbial monsters" maybe you should change your undies every couple of weeks. Believe it or not, I change mine EVERY day. Yeah, sounds elitist I know but I'm not a troglodyte. Honestly, be safe while you're out there running.....hope you know I was being jocular. The best.
