Heavy case with good features

I’m very pleased with this keyboard. I bought it in barebones version. It has a reasonably heavy metallic base. I would say this keyboard offers a good price/quality ratio. You get a lot of features from the professional keyboard world in this entry price level. You may use it as your first beginner keyboard to start exploring and experimenting with different switches. Beware of a few small issues if you are planning to use it on Linux. First, the function keys (F1–F12) by default are going to work in media mode, i.e. you will be able to control the volume etc. Switching between media and function modes will not work on Linux without serious hacking. Second, the pattern of LED blinking may be controlled only from a Windows or a Mac computer. I wasn’t able to get it working on Linux.

Not sure if it's worth it with the improving quality and price of entry level boards

As someone who likes to dabble in cheap boards, this one definitely has features that show off a tier in quality above its price, like gasket mounting, 3-mode operation, south facing hotswap

PCB, and a screw in design. However, even with the silicone insert doing double duty as sound dampening and weight, there is no getting over how much I hated how hollow it initially sounded and how light the keyboard is without it. I was determined to make this into something that I actually wanted to use, however. So, after many configuration changes and mods, I landed on my final product. I would recommend this as a good 1st project board, but otherwise, I would save up for something about $20 - $50 more expensive. Configuration: Switches: Cherry MX Speed Silver (hand-lubed) Keycaps: Drop Skylight Purple w/ generic shine through Pink Pudding accents Mods: 1 layer PCB tape, 2 layers of case PE foam, lubed stabs, removed plate foam layer, lavender & plum spray paint (I was mad my orange keycaps matched poorly, but I didn't knock the score because of this)

This board is sorta like a silicone precursor GMK67 - it has a ton of features people want to see like a gasket mounting, mute silicone, hot-swap/RGB/tri-mode, but isn't exactly going to punch up in price. The sound is decent with Gateron Milky Yellow Pros, but is super super muted thanks to the pound of silicone. The build quality also feels a bit cheap thanks to the fat bezels and side profile, but it's also plenty weighty and looks inoffensive for a desk setup thanks to being an nice neutral black. I'm being a bit too critical, but it's a nice board if you nab it on sale! It does the job fine.

This keyboard was extremely easy to work with -- it made my very first attempt at building a really cool mechanical keyboard very enjoyable. The final result is the very best keyboard I have ever owned!

It feels more expensive than it is

I've bought several boards around the same price and put just as much into making them sound (how I thought) I liked at the time, only to get this board, throw my old switches that I upgraded from on my old boards, and some cheap amazon caps, that were meant to hold be a place holder for the switches and caps I'm waiting for it, only for it to make my other boards feel just cheap in comparison, the typing expericance feels solid and perhaps a bit muted, but you can always take out the foam or silicon layer if you want. But I'm most impressed with on this board, is the spacebar, it's perfect, zero ping or rattle The only things I found to dislike about it were: 1.If I plan to take this board anywhere, there's no place on the board to stash the wireless dongle, which I've only experienced on this board 2. The driver software was not easy to find, took me a good hour only to find a link on reddit because others were having the same issue Overall, getting past the software issues, this board is definitely worth the price
