Why is it that flashlights insist on some kind of click button craziness to change brightness levels? What happened to just single-brightness flashlights, or twist or something so that when I click the button, I get exactly the brightness I'm expecting instead of brightest or least bright. I'd pay some decent money for one of those but with a build like this.

Yeah, mode memory is definitely rare, and most you don't have to do a full click to switch modes. In the end though to each their own, I know when looking some found some of my preferences maybe a bit odd. If you're alright with an 18650 battery based light, Eagtac has the d25lc2 which is what I got, but I got the "clicky" version. Anyways, good luck on your hunt. The reason I suggested the subreddit is it was helpful for me and easier than signing up for a forum account somewhere(already had a reddit account).

MooTatersI actually found http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?345608-List-of-lights-with-infinite-variable-brightness-control-rings which, while hasn't been updated in a while, brought me to Nitecore SRT6. Bit on the pricey side, but has a twist to adjust, and a standard button to on/off. I'm pretty tempted to get it.

Is the clip reversible? Clippable to a hat (pointing forward of course)?
