Both the JETBeam WL-S2 and C8 are available on Massdrop. Any opinions on which would be better?

bryturThis has better range, more battery options, a better IP rating, is more pocketable, has more modes, and higher lums with the correct batteries.
On the other hand the C8 has usb charging.

sprk1The C8 also comes with an 18650 battery. It'll be about $25 to get 2 samsung 18650 batteries and the NiteCore -i4-V2014 charger along with this flashlight (unless anyone has other suggestions). Looking for something to replace this lux pro lp600 I picked up at lowes that now only likes to work if you hold it at a certain angle.

bryturWell yes it comes with one 18650 (which brand we do not know) and a usb cable. Which means your light is out of order if you run out unless you get another battery and charge it fully so you can swap them. This is just my opinion, but I'd rather have extra batteries rathen than have to depend on a usb cable and an outlet/powerbank.
In any case if a flashlight with a usb port to recharge is your main concern then the obvious choice is the C8. IMO the range, battery options, barrel size (you can make this a light a lot smaller with the ws1 barrel), more modes, higher potential output, and batter shape make it the better light.

sprk1My main concern is a light that isn't a p.o.s., and you make some very good points. Thank you for your thoughts. I'll screw around with my current light some more to try and get it to work. If not, I'll go with this light and buy some batteries and a charger off amazon.

bryturCoolio. Glad to help. If you do, also get a battery case. I take a case with four batts when I'm not sure I'll get back home - either in my overnight duffle or my backpack in case in going climbing or trekking. They're cheap and can be usefull for other things.
