Can somebody please put my mind at ease and tell me for certain that the Fitzpatrick UK 8D will fit like a US 9D. Every pair of shoes/boots that I own are 9D and they all fit perfectly; I'm going to be severely disappointed if I spend $300 +tax on the Fitzpatrick's to find out they're too small.

NiophantIf you're very confident in your 9D US then I think you'll be fine. I wear an 8.5D US and our 8UK samples are a touch big for me. The guy next to me is a 9D US and the 8UK samples fit great. I would say these fit true to size for sure, assuming you know what your true size is (and it sounds like you do).

NiophantJ.FitzPatrick UK8 "E" is equivalent to US9 "D" for the most part. What differs is each brands idea of what D or E means. JF shoes fit comparable to an Allen Edmonds or other benchgrade, goodyear welted shoes.
