Hi Justin,
Another sizing question. I wear the following shoes sizes (All oxfords, no derbies/bluchers):
Brannock 10.5D US, high instep, and left foot has a slight bunion. This causes me to usually size up in width across all shoes. Carmina Inca Last: 9.5EE UK (A tad bit too tight, but I deal with it. Carmina's supposed widest last at the ball of the foot.) Herring/Loake 026 Last: 9.5E UK (Fits pretty much spot on.) Allen Edmonds 65 Last: 10E US (My most comfortable shoe. Followed the normal advice of size down by 1/2 length, up 1 width.) Alden Barrie Last: 10D US
My main concern is my high instep. I'm tempted to buy a 9.5E UK, however, I'd like to be able to close the laces up completely, or as close to completely as possible, without crushing my instep, or pressing too hard on my bunion. Therefore, I was wondering if it'd be more appropriate to size up in length to a 10E UK, or size up width in 9.5F UK. In each of the shoes above that I have, the length is perfect where the ball of my foot hits the widest part of the shoe.
Thank you for this Massdrop offering!

rurouni572I'm in a similar place -- 10.5D brannock, 10E 65 last fit well except I can't quite close the balmoral parallel, so I get a little "v" with the laces. I've thought about trying 10EE on the 65, so perhaps 9.5F is what I should get. Would love to hear what the advice is.

KetorolacSame here, also a US 10E on the AE 65 last. I was going to get the 9F since the sizing chart on his site says to go from US 10 to UK 9, but I would love to hear more thoughts before I committed. Thanks!

rurouni572thanks for listing your sizes. Are you sure that the Loake is E fitting as their website indicates that a medium fit for them is F. Based just on that shoe alone, as you prefer to have room and not a snug fit, I believe that you might be better off in the UK9.5F size as I think that the E will be too restricting for your personal taste. What then throws me off though is your size on your 65 last (and how that is your most comfortable fit) which in theory would equate to my UK9F. Also your Barrie last (which is a wide fitting last is also a length of US10 which would be my UK9. Therefore, I can say to not size up to UK10E though. That will be too long. I say either UK9F or 9.5F. My gut says UK9F based on everything

KetorolacI think that UK9.5F would be the way to go based on the info provided. Might have a small V in the lacing in the beginning but should close up after a few wears.

lyciasfor me your logic sounds about right. Can't see why you would take any other size.

TheShoeSnobSorry, I meant F width for the Loakes . So confusing with so many different designations for UK widths...I think I'll get the 9.5F, even though it goes against your gut, haha. I think I'd rather get a shoe that's too wide and needs tongue inserts instead of a shoe that's too small and hurts my foot. I'm pretty sure 9.5UK is the correct length since both my Carminas and Loake are 9.5UK. Thank you for taking the time to help me out!

rurouni572Did you end up getting the shoes in 9.5F? If so how do you like them? I have the same sized feet, ordered a couple of Loake capital last shoes 9.5UK standard F width. Carmina Rain is 9.5UK standard EE, a bit more snug in the toes.
