Looking at the burgundy option. What is "crust calf" leather? Does it differ from the typical calf leather out there? Is it scotch or pebble like? Thanks

suitandbootcrust leather is undyed leather that is natural in color. It is meant to be hand colored (dyed) after the shoemaking process. Normal box calf is drum dyed in the tannery. But crust is just untreated normal calf. It does not have a different surface like grain.

TheShoeSnobThanks Justin. Since it is not dyed, does that mean that the color can be scratched or come off if the shoe gets dinged, due to rain or wrinkling from wear and tear. Is there any inherent pros and cons between crust and drum dyed leather. Thanks in advance for your help.

suitandbootCrust and aniline are both good leathers. Crust is often seen as a bit higher end, but the differences are small. For instance, G&G uses mostly aniline, Edward Green is almost exclusively crust. Both are exceptional shoes.
