When 19-year-old Joseph Bulova left Europe for America and founded his watch company in 1875, little did he know what impact the establishment would have over the next century and a half. The Joseph Bulova collection is a tribute to the company’s pioneering founder Read More
The case back reminds me of my spaceview. Unfortunately that's about all I like about this one. Looks like an vintage clock on your wrist. The white dial looks a little more modern..
The barrel shaped watch is breaking my heart. My grandfather, had a gold Bulova in this shape. It must be early since he died around 1952. I inherited the watch from my father and wore it every day. Unfortunately it was stolen from my home in LA around 1985. His name, which is the same as mine, is engraved on the back of the watch.
I really like the look of this Bulova watch but where is the bargain? I come to Drop to find good deals on quality products. At $100 off retail there is no deal here. Strange.....
I dig the case design, but hate the number font and spacing. Something about the design makes the numbers look like they aren't spaced right in kind of like an optical illusion sort of way.
I would be all over this for like $350. But $1,000 is a bit too much. They're still very nice looking, and they have the smaller size that will make them look vintage too.
32mm and 33mm? I hope these come with a magnifier in the box? Also, I assume from these size, Joseph Bulova was a dwarf height challenged person?
Sigh.... I don't know what it is with watches on Drop these days, we either can choose from hockey puck size, or garden gnome size. Where have the regular wrist size guy watches gone?
For every person that wants a a modernized reinterpretation, there is another that will complain that it isnt closer to the original. Once again, this is a square and will wear more like a 36 - 38 mm as you can see from pictures elsewhere. For what it's worth, this is likely upsized as the original was probably 27 mm or smaller. For reference, cartier tank solo xl is 31 mm across and doesnt wear small. Personally, I think that the disproportionate thickness (even though it is only 10.5 mm it looks thick with this case shape), but I accept I am probably in the minority.
Thorrgthere is another that will complain that it isnt closer to the originalI totally agree with your statement. But from a commercial perspective, unless you want to sell a curiosity, it's better to expand your audience by offering a compelling reinterpretation, complete with updated case, better lume, better materials, etc. All the successful modern-vintage offering have followed this path (check Seiko's wildly popular modern-vintage offerings), and Bulova themselves have done updated modern-vintage offerings many times.
Or, you can make a curiosity and sell it to a few fanboys and fangirls, having marketed a discussion piece mostly.
