Good product overall. The soft touch rubber scratches easily, but not a big deal honestly. Only addition I would like to see is an incorporated DAC and combo jack. Otherwise great!
Crapped out after about a year and a half of very light use. Maybe once or twice a month. Pretty lame. Also this thing couldn't get close to USB-C speeds. Tended to crap out during heavy transfers. Its cool that it can be flush on the macbook, but if you want something that's reliable and will last, look elsewhere.
This works great on my 2017 MBP 15". I actually had submitted an RMA for mine because it did not work initially with the display. Turns out my MacBook had a defective motherboard, and after getting a new one from work, the adapter works great. I cancelled the RMA and all has been well since.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
Purchased the Juiced USB-C MultiPort Gigabit HDMI Hub.
As of 4/30/18, only ONE usb port still works. Everything else has failed, and is completely useless, rendering this product completely useless.
Massdrop won't do anything to rectify the situation. I'd stay FAR away from this product.
i bought one, had to return it. Massdrop gave me a full refund, the only reason why i gave it two stars instead of one. Doesnt really work with the latest macbook pro 13inch. Blocks the headphone jack, because you have to plug it in backwards. The color doesnt really match the space grey, and the HDMI doesnt work.
Juiced Systems USB-C Ultrahub with HDMI.
For Prospecive Buyers: AVOID!
I used it for two painful months before I stopped. Here's why:
1. It cannot handle the power requirements of all and will then randomly disconnect something.
2. The hub, while technically reversible, blocks the headphone jack, so it's really only going to.go on the left side of your MBP.
3. It does not sit secure when placed and can pop out if jiggled just a little.
4. Does not work with a USB-C display except at the expense of the Thunderbolt 3 port, and then not well or consistently.
5. Does not like being connected to another hub, and will need that other hub to be unplugged and plugged back in, resulting in a repeat of problem #3.
The positives:
1. If you don't need Thunderbolt 3, have low power needs and just want an extra USB-A port and SD card reader, then it could be ok. These work.
2. Slim profile and portable.
3. Cheaper than other hubs, which are much more expensive, reliable, have greater connectivity, and are typically better values for your money.
Conclusion:
My life has been much happier since I stopped using this product. Save up and spend a little more on a larger hub: I have a Plugable hub as well as a recent OWC hub and they're both more reliable for daily use. Only buy this product if you need portability and two USB-A ports. Otherwise avoid.
