The Juiced Macbook Pro USB-C 6 Port adapter says that it works for external HD and optical drives. Does it work with the Apple SuperDrive MD564ZM/A, which requires high power consumption through its USB connection? Thanks!
The Apple SuperDrive needs 1.1-1.2 amps of power to operate. A standard USB 3.0 Data port only supports 900mah of power so it will most likely will not work.
Thanks! there is only one way to power the Superdrive - through the USB cable that also provides the data connection - so I am trying to find the right connector for my new MacBook Pro with only USB-C ports. I have a few hubs but neither will provide the power. I have even tried standard (older) powered USB hubs through those hubs, and those don't work either. ???
I think you can use the USB-C port if you use a USB-A to USB-C cable on the SuperDrive.
