Just got this in the mail...
Really, the USB cable is only 83cm a little less than 33in end to end, that won't even get from next to my monitor to the edge of the desk. I was expecting a 3m or at least a 2m cable.

These are wonderful, but can be found for less on America's favorite online shopping site. I paid 55 and that included shipping.
ClaireVoyantPretty sure you are talking about the 10 port hub for $55. This drop is for a 13 port hub. About $13 for three more ports when you factor in shipping. Or maybe you got a really good deal on the 13 port hub.

I have one of these and it sucks. The power plug is very wobbly and cheap made. Every now and then I will have to reach over and jiggle the power cable to get it to work again. The hub itself is all aluminum and appears to be made well, but the power jack and cable simply do not fit together very well and causes contact issues.

So all 13 ports would be able to transfer at full speed and be powered at the same time?

For those asking about compatibility for their country: "The power supplies are US plugs, but they are compatible with both 240v and 120v. standards. There would be two options, using a simple adapter, or getting this : http://amzn.to/1rPiZ0Q which is an AC power adapter for NZ/AUS, this style power cable would fit/replace the US version that the unit comes with"

The PSU is a 12V supply, and there are 4 (or was it 5) switch mode supplies within the hub that power each group of hubs within this 13 port hub. This efficiently converts the 12v 5A to what would effectively be somewhere around 10-11 amps at 5V depending on its efficiency. This means you practically can get your full spec 900mA on all ports. The use of the charging port will push the PSU a bit harder if you are pulling 900 on all other ports though, but this is not likely in a normal application, as products rarely pull all 900mA constantly.
Because power is delivered to each group of 3 ports, you Could spread your power hungry devices across the board to share the load between the internal power supplies. This really isn't necessary though as all ports should be capably powered by the internal PSUs.
For speed though, put your highest priority devices at the USB input end of the device, as it is essentially 4 USB hubs in series. The first 3 ports are accessible, with the next hub daisy chaining off the 4th port. Therefore, all the data for ports 4-13 are all carried through the first hub. This is fairly normal for hubs as controllers have 4 ports. This is why most hubs are 4, 7, 10, or 13 ports.

WoogityAt base spec, 13 USB 3 ports need at least 11.7 amps. Very underpowered.

scalablecoryThe USB 3.0 spec has 3 different configurations. Low power (150mA) per port, and high power (900ma) per port, both have the same data transfer rates of up to 5 Gb/sec. There is also a battery charging configuration which allows up to 1.5A per port, but without any data transmission. The 3.1 spec has been published to allow up to 10Gb/sec. data transmission rate. Also the 5.0A listed in the spec is for the input power supply at 12V for 60W total. The ports themselves are 5V out or 4.5W at full high power configuration.
I have the 10 port SATECHI hub and it's a superb performer.
