How is the shipping so much faster on this item than anything else I've had from massdrop? -ever. This leaving the vendor in so-cal or something instead of NJ?

Individual packages have started to ship! The vendor confirmed earlier that majority of the group's order has been sent out with the rest scheduled for pickup shortly. Once your package is scanned into the courier's system an email will be sent with shipping confirmation and tracking info.
Expect another update from us on 9/14 or sooner if something comes up.

Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Juiced Systems USB 3.0 6+1+1 Hub and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will ship the individual orders directly to you. The current estimated ship date is 9/20.
We will keep the group updated throughout the fulfillment process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 9/9.

MarvinMerlinBecause your MacBook doesn't have one anymore for example....they are too thin. And some companies don't do wireless networks for security reasons.
This thing works wonders in my office. Just one USB cable to my Mac and I am connected to the company network, to my external hard drive, my DACs, card reader and whatnot. It also charges well - this thing is worth its price many times for me. Am glad I got it in one of the earlier drops.

Will this split the bandwidth of the usb port that I'm connecting it to? For example, if I am connecting a keyboard, mouse, microphone, and speakers, will there be significant performance drops?

guinnessIt's USB 3 - all the things you mention are piece of cake for this hub and USB 3 in general.

Any word on LAN compatibility with the raspberry pis?
I believe this is just a generic design with a sublicensed brand. I have something that looks physically identical but with only three USB ports. OTOH, it works fine on my Win 10 laptops using the generic drivers that install upon plugging in. For those asking what the ethernet port is for...it's for an ethernet connection via USB. Many ultralight laptops these days skip the ethernet port and require an adapter, this does the same thing.
