I don't understand how the gigabit ethernet port would even work... could someone please explain? Like if you plugged your computer into that port with an ethernet cable, where would the internet even come from? And if you plugged your ethernet cable from your wall into the hub, what is the point? edit: oops someone already asked the same question...

jlangIts a usb 3.0 ethernet adapter, you plug the hub into you're computer through USB and you gain a gigabit ethernet connector for that computer, you then plug an ethernet cable from your router to the hub and, bam, you have a wired internet/network connection.
I'll be honest though, on all the product descriptions on different retailers, none of them are particularly clear on what the ethernet port is for, nor how it works. They all just say, "Add internet with the gigabit ethernet port". None specify whether its a network adapter for the computer, nor whether it networks usb devices attached to the hub, such as drives.
