Where is massdrop finding these wack af goggle brands? I’ve snowboarded for 2 decades and haven’t heard of many of the drops I keep seeing. Are they euro brands or something?

Shawn_whiteI'm by no means an expert, and some of my feedback is second hand. My gf ordered, I believe 10-15+ photochromic ski goggles from Backcountry, tested them all in various light both indoors and out, and found the Julbo to be most flexible for various lighting conditions. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure all the brands that were tested or compared. For my own part, I bought a pair of Julbo sunglasses (from Massdrop) for mountaineering, and I now use them for snowboarding also. I basically ditched my Smith goggles in favor of sunglasses and a balaclava if/when it's too cold. I've used various brands of sunglass lenses (Oakley, Smith, Performance, and others) through years of competitive running, cycling, and Ironman triathlons in addition to snow-specific sports. Julbo photochromic works well in dim as well as extremely bright light. I have yet to use them in a situation that I felt they were suboptimal - I even use them hiking Colorado 14'ers in the winter and summer. I'm personally very pleased with their build construction and technical capabilities. This is my personal experience and I can't speak to all their lines/lenses.

SuigenerisFair enough, thank you for the reply. I’m curious how they do compared to smith, spy, Oakley‘s et al special ski lenses but not enough to order these. Hopefully some other people have experience as well.

Shawn_whiteJumbo has been a top name in mountaineering eyewear for a very long time. This particular goggle is the best no fog backcountry goggle on the market. You seem like a Smith/Oakley guy so it's probably not for you.
