From Julbo, a French company that’s been making mountain eye protection for more than 125 years, the Renegade sunglasses are great for mountain biking, climbing, cross-country skiing, trail running, and more. The polycarbonate lenses use Spectron and polarized lens coatings to help minimize glares and reflections, block infrared light, and reduce eye fatigue Read More
I have these shades, but with the Zebra photochromic lenses. I wear them ski touring, mountain biking, trail running, SUPping...you name it. I wear them all the time - so much so that my wife used to make fun of me. She's gotten bored of that, thankfully.
I'm a solid fan of them. They're light without feeling cheap. Good clarity. They stay put, even during a spectacular tomahawk wipeout.
My reference for eyelash interference is the original Oakley HalfJacket and I'm hyper-senstitive to it. My eyelashes were constantly rubbing against the Oakleys and smearing the lenses. The Renegades have a pretty solid curve to them. My eyelashes do hit the lenses, but I rarely notice it.
If I had to criticize, the coating on the outside of the lenses is a bit fragile compared to some other brands. I've been able to scratch them more easily than I'd like.
I have a pair of the Julbo Paddle sunglasses, and I'm iffy on them for one solid reason: they have a pretty harsh curve to them. I don't know if this is to pull the lenses closer to the eyes and get full coverage over the orbital cavity, but my eyelashes rub against the lenses pretty full on. I have to pull the glasses far down my nose before my lashes don't hit the lenses, and it bugs the shit out of me. I do have long eyelashes, so, it might not have an effect on other people. Otherwise, I really like the glasses. That all being said, does anyone know if these Renegade models have the same style of curve as the Paddle?
