So I'm in. Sold. Love it even when I was going to get the condor. C'mon its a Becker!! But can someone tell me how the Crovan steel compares against the 1055 Cold Steel machete and the Condor 1075?I'm not trolling. Just want to get to know the blade better and what to expect.

LazarusLong1095 has a bit more carbon in it (I think .95% vs .75%), and Beckers add a bit more chromium (for slightly better corrosion resistance) and vanadium (for added toughness), hence their term Cro-Van steel. Beckers generally have a good heat treat for their 1095 as well. The end result being a blade that is slightly tougher to sharpen than 1075, but will hold it edge much better, while being able to take a significant beating.

jikerThanks. The forums on the net were a conflicting. So this straightens me out. Hopefully also helps folks above decide whether the Becker is a better buy than stuff from other places.
