Are those $35 micarta handles worth it?
Regarding the Micarta scales, with the larger handles knives like th BK-2 and BK-4 Machaxe, I feel that the Micarta scales make for a tremendous improvement in grip and control. They are highly recommended on those larger handles.
For tweener sized knives like this one and the BK-16, I'm not sure there's as much of an improvement with the Micarta scales. Sure, there's an improvement, but it doesn't feel as necessary as it does on the bigger handles.
This knife's handle is thinner and easier to grip, so I don't feel the same lack of control with the stock Grivory grips.
I did pick up the Micarta scales for this, but if you're watching your budget, I don't think they're strictly necessary on these tweener-sized Beckers.
