I like the design of this but the background is odd - the guy in the video designed both of those knives and says the Machax has no choil and that he tries to design his knives with no choil, then he shows what he considers to be a perfect knife with a choil (generally thought of and used as a sharpening guide though). Not only that, but the combination of the ricasso/shoulder and the guard/bump/"plastic quillon" effectively create a finger choil, although a very bad one. If you look at his Becker Machete from a few years ago it's basically an oversized Bowie. This Machax is almost a copy of Ka-Bar's machete from the same time frame, it just has a more extreme angle where the blade meets the handle. So very very odd, all around. It would be interesting to remove the handle and see what type of kick is under there, maybe a fingerprint grip where the guard is would be more useful with this. But for at most a dozen bucks less than Amazon and a 1-2 month wait time, I don't know.

RampantBiologicThat isn't just any guy......It's Ethan Becker !
To understand this design ....imagine a light hatchet superimposed over the photo...its a light hatchet alternative but with more useable edge for other purposes.

AntibacterialI knew that, but I'd assume that others don't... As to what type of knife it is, I understand it's usability triumphs, but all of my comments still stand - and everything Ethan said about the Machax gets undermined when he shows the second knife. I'd be interested in using these, and I have no doubt that both knives are excellent, I just found it odd. Of course, my last comment stands most of all - if I wanted to try this out, I'd definitely get it from somewhere else.
