Are all the mockers too high on their horses to contemplate that maybe Ka-bar just have a sense of humour and use the term 'tactical' with tongue in cheek?
Whatever the name, it is a unique and useful variation on the traditional spork design. In knife /fork mode they are well proportioned and great for eating meat etc off a plate. The knife easily and efficiently deals with a good steak at the camp BBQ: a standard spork... not so much. In extended spork mode, with the knife neatly stashed away, it is perfect for getting down to the bottom of those freeze dried meal packets. My only criticism is the strange shape of the spork, a rounder, shallower spoon-like shape would work better.
So, having actually bought one and used it, I really like it for what it is - a plastic eating utensil which I take on my travels.

AotearoanI very much doubt that Ka-Bar was employing humor, else it would show up in their ads. “Tactical” is a strong marketing term and Ka-Bar knows it.
As far as the snarkiness, surely it’s obvious? ”Tactical” refers to combat tactics - “actions taken toward a military gain” to paraphrase one dictionary. In the case of the spork, it immediately raises the prospect of dinnerware combat, especially given the hidden knife.
But even the civilian, metaphorical usage is mocked. When it indicated a planned action, it’s almost always rhetorical excess.
In any event, we totally nuked ‘em! Ripped out their hearts and stared ‘em in the eyes while they dropped! Then, carefully wiping down the cleverly disguised annular blood grooves, and being particularly careful not to cut a finger on the sharpened mold lines, we reverently place the “Spork” (hah! ... if they only knew!) back into it’s designated fast-draw, molle pouch, prepared for the next full-on, hand-to-hand. BTW, sign up for the 3-day free training course - it’s SO worth it!
Now, in a more serious vein, assuming you’ve read this far, I also noted the shallowness of the spoon, along with its relatively small size. That, along with the very obvious, lengthwise mold lines, plus the not-so-field-cleaning-friendly aspects of the design, make it *complete* miss for me. I’ll stick with my lightweight fork and spoon set, which compromises nothing. Again, I don’t bother carrying the set’s knife as I always have one with me anyway.
Bad design. Bad construction. High price. Just say no.

billcHigh price??? It’s $20 for three. How hard can they hit me? I bought a set to put in my cars to replace the last spork I lost for a “throw down” eating utensil because I eat a lot in the car. Comes in real handy for the Coney Island hot dogs I carve up at my local Sonic drive-in, and this one has a knife, which will come in handy.
