Man, I love looking at the discussion sections of drops for products with Kailh switches. It's so entertaining listening to Cherry fan boys circle-jerk one another and trash talk a switch they probably have absolutely no experience with. It's as sure as the rising of the sun, if you make a drop for Kailh products, the fan boys will come!
It's funny to me that every person I see who tries to crap on Kailh switches has only joined drops for products with Cherry switches. Unless they bought some Kailh products from other sites and have used both products, I would really question their credibility when reading anything someone writes.
PS. I have used Kailh browns and Cherry browns and found both to be great products with the Kailh switches being slightly preferred due to their heavier actuation force.
tocksicFrom personal experience, (I have a Razer keyboard)
The Kaihl switches are in my opinion pretty bad. They are extremely inconsistent, with some switches clicking really good while others have almost no click. They also have a little bit of a loose stem, so some keycaps will come off easily.
jabbajacYes, the Kailh browns have a more tactile feel (many people say they are comparable to the Cherry Clear switch). I prefer the Kailh browns for this reason, I have a heavier hand when typing and the Cherry Browns that my housemate has don't have enough of a bump for me. Just a personal preference though.
The Kailh browns have been described as "scratchy" which I can understand but it's not something that bothers me as the typing experience is still great. This description of "scratchy" is a little odd considering you won't get buttery smooth switches from anything but linears. This "scratchy-ness" is present on Cherry browns as well but is is more discernible on Kailhs because of the higher actuation force (just did another side by side as I was writing this).
boTyAhhh, yeah, see I just stay away from Razer products. If you read around, it's fairly common knowledge to avoid the Razer branded Kailh switches; maybe they are better now that they have had time to work out the kinks but I would be cautious around Razer products all the same.
boTyThey are not. Razer contracted Kailh to manufacture the "Razer switch" specifically for their products. They share Cherry stems and similar Cherry designs but they are not the "tried and true" design that Kailh uses for their other switches; I believe that is why you see so many complaints about Razer products featuring these strange switches. They are a relatively new product, possibly rushed to meet demand of Razer products. They are likely better now, but I have heard resounding complaints of those switches whereas I have heard (and experienced) mostly positive feedback from the normal line of Kailh switches.
You can see this here in Razer's promo video for their switches, note the date:
