Almost pulled the trigger but realized that the sheath was flat. Would have been nicer if it matched the shape of the handle.

LazarusLongBut then it could be seen as something along the lines of a pen knife, and it would be a legal nightmare.

Ares78way too fat for a pen, and what about pikes ? I don't think it has to do anything with a law, https://www.massdrop.com/buy/kizer-urban-protector-pocket-spike

Albert.AYeah but that‘s more like a tooth pick. It’s not an actual blade.

Albert.ALook, here's the bottom line. Pen knives and comb knives are knives disguised to look like something else and if this knife had a sheath that was exactly sized and shaped as its handle, you could easily make the argument that this is a knife disguised as a wooden capsule or whatever. The pocket spike isn't 2cm thick, the whole tube is only 1.8cm thick and frankly its shape is more like a tooth pick or a needle, which aren't prohibited to be carried in any state, whereas knife laws differ state to state. If I can't, at a glance, identify that this thing is a knife (which I wouldn't be able to if were just a tube of wood), there will be problems.

Ares78A round sheath wouldn't make this a 'pen knife' at all, it would just match up with the handle better and present a more aesthetically pleasing package.
Probably more comfortable in the pocket too.

OmniseedWhat I'm saying is that making the sheath round and matching its look to the handle would effectively conceal its only physical attribute that makes it look like a knife, which would land this thing in legal grey area nightmare.

Ares78maybe in the UK lol, plastic butter knives can only be bought by adults and can get you arrested using them outside a designated cafeteria....... I wish this was fiction.

Ares78No it wouldn't, most people don't live inside an airport or courthouse, and there's no law that a knife has to advertise what it is when sheathed.
Lots of fixed blade knives exist with that style of uniform outer dimension handle and sheath, when doing a wooden sheath it's basically the standard.

OmniseedActually there are laws and regulations around this (granted they differ state to state). This knife, if it had a sheath the same size and shape as its handle, and was carried around in public, would fall under conceal carry laws. Or in the case of California, this would be a “misleading knife” and therefore illegal, but in Arizona it would be perfectly fine.

Ares78I see a bunch of comments after mine and don’t want to stoke any more fires. But I just think it makes for a better aesthetic, that’s all. Just a simple observation. But living in several countries before I settled here in the US, I’ve come to a conclusion that if a LEO / Military decides that you are a threat, regardless if your blade meets your local laws, they will flag you down. Best to be polite, respectful, and comply. If they are corrupt and you don’t have the funds to give a bribe , you are pretty much done. I’ve seen some questionable stuff being sold as a personal weapon camouflaged as some harmless item, I suggest folks purchasing these items be ready for any consequences. Especially if someone gets killed or decides to sue you.
But like I said, this knife looks great. Just would look nicer to me with a matching sheath. No biggie.
