Anyone have any thoughts on comparing this to the Dayton Audio SUB-1000? I bought the YU5's and that sub since I couldn't find a black Sub8 in stock anywhere in the US for reasonable money a month or so ago. The Dayton is a decent sub for the money but I think it's actually too much for the YU5's, I suspect there is a bit of a gap in FR between the YU5 and the Dayton, it's less apparent at higher volumes but most of my listining is pretty moderate.
In my room the Dayton is good down to 35hz before it rolls off which is overkill for the music I listen to fwiw. I'm not audiophile enough to have any real complaints about it beyond the suspected lack of mid-bass.
you dont really want your subwoofer playing any midrange or low mid bass. thats what the woofer on the YU5 is for. each driver is most efficient when its playing the frequency range it was designed for. if you are lacking in that range i suggest checking to ensure you are listening to full quality (320 or higher) files, and if that doesnt help just bump the bass control on your YU5 up 1-2 notches.
