Is the only thing different from the standard model the color? If so that's quite a price jump from the standard AL Sport.

nathan.coulombeYes. 😐 I hate when these guys (and lamy, and...) do this - but only for the reason that people who are new or don't know think that this is actually a 100 dollar pen. It's definitely not. But people dig collecting colors or having a limited run pen, which I get, so no diss on them.

UsergradeYeah, no diss really intended - but it'd be nice if they would do something more substantial for the limited runs - gold or titanium nibs or something?

nathan.coulombeGold and titanium nibs would add a substantial amount of money for these. Kaweco Black nibs are already kinda priced silly at $35-40. So for the types that like the stealthy look or Black nibs this is a solid deal. If you like the design and just want function I agree this is definitely pricey.

nathan.coulombeIf you add a black nib to a standard al sport you’d already be over $100. But yeah, color scheme but mostly the nib is why the price jump.

McJimmisya, and if you look at the fact you can get a regular one for 55-60 (and worth it if you like them, I do, i've got one - and a fake one that was 15 dollars ha) and that a regular replacement nib costs 15, it's even worse. I'm all for these for the people who like to collect colors or whatever and massdrop isn't as bad as they usually are on this front for this particular drop - but they way they present things like this is shady to me as it preys on newbies. If I had 100 bucks to spend on one of my first pens and down the road I learned I payed basically double for a paint job, I would have been upset and discouraged. I love pens (of many prices/ages/styles) and know other people could find the joy I do. So rightly or not I think places selling them have a responsibility to act as honest ambassadors. Realistic? Maybe not. Sigh. I love pens.

UsergradeNo doubt this is a lot of cash for a Kaweco AL Sport. They’re known for inconsistent nibs too. I can’t get this shipped over seas for this price and I can’t find the “night” edition this cheap either. I also have some credit here and haven’t been willing to buy much else off the platform lately. At the same time if the drop fails I won’t be sad.

UsergradeSpecial Editions typically come with an inflated price and limited runs, which help make them more collectible. If you are looking for a 55 dollars worth more of quality, that is dubious, but... if you want a pen as part of a collection, you weigh the value.
